A Ribbon
Ian Fineman Sep 2020
A ribbon,
Adrift in the breeze
My hand goes to catch it
It trembles and flees

It dances about,
Floating on air,
But where the wind takes it,
I can't follow it there,

So fly far away,
Where I can't remember,
And leave from my side,
In this cold dark december.

Doubt the Night
Ian Fineman May 2020
Doubt,
The answer to my fears,
The night,
I lay awake with tears,

Doubt,
The question left unasked,
The night,
Character left unmasked.

Can You Hear Me
Ian Fineman May 2020
Alone,
Lost in the sea,
Turn out the lights,
Whisper to me,

Again,
Follow my heart,
Lead me astray,
Never apart,

Can you hear me,
Can you see me,
Can you say my name,

What's in a message,
A moment,
A brand new day

Secrets
Ian Fineman Feb 2020
Drowning in the pain,
The memory of youth,
The kindness of the name,
And echoing in truth,

Followed from the ashes,
The whispers of a lie,
The name that wishes everything,
Where secrets go to die.

In darkest night,
In deepest cold,
Away the shadow,
Deepest fear,

In growing stillness,
Dying breath,
Live this truth,
Of my caress.

You
Ian Fineman Jan 2020
You
The warmth of your skin,
Of your breath, of your lips
The curve of your shoulders
Your waist and your hips,

The memories we make,
All set in the stone
And now as I wake
I feel not alone

Caught on Tape
Ian Fineman Jan 2020
Hands tremble,
Mouth's dry,
Words escape me,
When and why?

Body quivers,
Nerves don't stop,
Where'd they go,
Why'd I stop?

All I want,
It all escapes,
Why go on,
Caught on tape?

The Fog
Ian Fineman Jan 2020
The fog in my mind,
It won't go away,
A sickness,
A fondness,
A tear that won't stay,

It roils and storms,
The lightning of thought,
The bittersweet call,
Of something you're not.
I don't write poetry much anymore, but i do enjoy it every now at then. Thank you all for reading my stuff, it means more than you know.

Headache
Ian Fineman Nov 2019
The music is ringing,
Like a gong in my head,
Sometimes it's good,
But put it to bed.

A ringing and throbbing,
I can't keep it straight,
The words of a friend,
A specialty fate.

A dream that I had,
A scarlet sunset,
A hope to inspire,
Now I'm in your debt.

Tandem
Ian Fineman Nov 2019
Forever lost,
We reach for sun,
We sing a tune,
And crack a pun!

Asking for hope,
We look for a song,
We keep our minds open,
And stumble along,

Slowly we find,
The gamey logic,
The screaming crowd,
Of our music in tandem.

Taken
Ian Fineman Jul 2019
Why must you try,
To make everything right,
To erase all my fears,
So that I might not fight?

Why must you take,
My heart and my soul,
My burning desire,
From embers to coal?

That is my reason,
My morning my night,
My reason for living,
My dawn changed to light.

The Sacrifice
Ian Fineman May 2019
A carol of breaths,
They wind and they blow,
They call from the depths,
"Arise, and bow low,

Arise and take heed,
For you are my own,
My blood and my kin,
Else I don't condone.

Arise and seek plains,
Forests and trees,
And from what you find,
Take sight of the seas.",

And with that they left,
They split up to find,
The peace of their master,
Their own peace of mind,

For eons and more,
They searched in their hearts,
But nothing was spotted,
On none of their parts,

With heads held in shame,
They sulked and caroused,
They found in their minds,
Their master, abused,

They rushed back to find,
Their lord, gone from sight,
And yonder the pale,
They heard of his plight,

"I hear of your end,
To your journey, a lie,
There was no peace,
Never, surprised?

But found you may have,
The will to go back,
Explore the new valleys,
And find what I lack,

There was no great quest,
All was for you,
You give you the chance,
To run, a redo,

To give my own life,
So you may yet live,
And this is for you,
The last gift I give."

And with that they left,
Not mourning his death,
But praising his life,
A new chance for breath.

The Real Choice
Ian Fineman Mar 2019
A feather bobbing on the breeze,
I fall from fame.

Not soaring to new heights,
But catching blame.

We don't win,
We don't lose,
In spring or winter,
Just following blues.

Like a feather in the breeze,
We all fall.

The real choice comes,
When we stand tall.

Our Dream
Ian Fineman Feb 2019
Whilst waking from sleep,
I had a thought,
Why do we live,
For what we've sought,

Is it 'cause we wish,
For what we lack,
The power to love,
And then strike back?

Is it 'cause we dream,
And find our way,
But wake up and,
We've lost the day?

Or maybe since we,
Know of the loss,
The dying breath,
Of loved ones lost?

What Do You Call Love?
Ian Fineman Feb 2019
Love is fleeting,
Death is forever,
Life is a dying flower,
That blooms and wilts together,

Hate is a burning passion,
That faults a dying breath,
But love is a flying heart,
That stays until your death,

Fear is an obstacle,
That stops your every move,
But love is a shining mirror,
That whispers to the past.

Wake Up
Ian Fineman Feb 2019
They're closing in,
The walls all around,
And in my heart,
Only anger abounds,

My wonder,
The whirling breeze,
It blows me off,
My feet and heaves.

Exciting,
What a horrid way,
To wake from bed,
And dread the day.
I can't write poems very often anymore, my days are packed, sorry.

A Broken Bind
Ian Fineman Jan 2019
A whisper calls,
It beckons me,
From the bushes, earth,
The trees,

It calls to me,
"Erase the old,
Make what's new,
Desire, be bold",

It tells me to,
Embrace my fears,
Carry my heart,
Shed all my tears,

It tells me to,
Be faithful, unwind,
It sees my life,
A broken bind.
Sorry for taking so long to make a new poem, I've had stuff going on in my life, I'll try to make these poems more frequently.

You
Ian Fineman Jan 2019
You
It fills my mind,
The aroma of your hair,
It's hard to focus,
Almost too much to bear,

Your figure shows,
It sets my senses on fire,
And leaves me a wreck,
Your looks and your attire,

You give me chills,
How you break my defences,
You're irresistible,
My heart never ceases.
Sorry I haven't been publishing much lately, I've been busy with school.

Force
Ian Fineman Jan 2019
The melancholy horrors,
The break of dawn,
When words fail,
It's what we long,

A breath of fresh air,
It's what we need,
It carries to places,
We're forced to heed,

We fight and we struggle,
The difference is naught,
But when we look forward,
We are but distraught.
Hey guys. Sorry if this one's a little worse than the other's. I'm heading back to school.

Not Anymore
Ian Fineman Jan 2019
A man walks out,
But I walk in,
The path of a stranger,
My only kin,

The man was I,
But not anymore,
I'm not that person,
I'm not anymore,

The man goes to cries,
I join him there,
We come back together,
We realize we care.
Hey guys, tried writing a little differently today. Tell me how it is. No sugarcoating, just give me feedback, I'd love to see where you guys take me.

Give
Ian Fineman Jan 2019
I can't help but give,
Nature beckons me,
To give it a try,
Responding with glee

I give and they take,
I'm never enough,
They don't understand,
I'm not all that tough,

They call out for me,
Afraid to appear,
I hide in my mind,
And shed not one tear,

I hide away from,
The people I know,
But people I don't,
Are why I don't flow.

Can We Love
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
Can we live a hate stronger than love,
Where love comes fast and goes above,

When all we feel are sadness and regret,
How can we live without dying upset,

Can we love at all without sating our hearts,
With empty tears, our soul entwined parts,

Can we live,
Night after night,
When anguish and sadness,
Give others delight,
Yes, I put two up tonight, I needed to vent, I might even put up more.
Thank you all for being here for me.
I started this to help others, but it looks like you're helping me too, thank you all.

Why
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
Why
My path was made,
When I began,
To picture myself.
As only a man

Twas life in me,
It fled long ago,
And followed its own,
For highs and lows,

It killed and pleased,
Itself in me,
And midst all the pain,
It smiled with glee,

I've tried to stop,
The pain intense,
For all that I've earned,
It never relents.

My Burden
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
Emotions are flying,
They ******* and burn,
They leave my heart open
To anguish and scorn,

My loves hide away,
From me for a time,
To save them from pain,
And give me my rhyme,

They pry my heart open,
And force themselves in,
Not knowing what comes,
Know not of my kin,

They try all they can,
It's never enough,
To keep them from pain,
Through times all but rough.
Thank you all for reading my poems, I never thought that they'd get such support.
Thank You

Is There a Chance
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
Is there a chance,
To douse all my tears,
To show all my friends,
My doubts and my fears,

Is there a chance,
That they will all care,
Or will they just call,
Say, "life is not fair",

Is there a chance,
Of a life of pain,
Will I resent to,
All of their disdain,

Is there a reason,
To cherish my life,
When all that I feel,
Is anger and strife.
Wow, that... Got a lot darker than I intended. But what can you do right?

The Guilt We Hide
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
From aching bones,
To pains and cries,
All that's heard,
Are echoed lies,

The wind that blows,
Behind your back,
Come's to say,
What all you lack,

A harrowed breath,
From guilty want,
Make guilt and lies,
A harmful taunt.
This poem was very hard to write, I don't know why, I've been writing with ease lately, good change of pace I guess.

Soar Up to the Sky
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
A draft in winter,
The end is nigh,
When can I flee,
Soar up to the sky,

Can I find the end,
Of this fleet cry,
Calling for help,
Soar up to the sky,

Is there a chance
I heave a sigh,
Can I call out,
And soar to the sky,

Can I compare,
To those that lay,
Right before me,
Soaring through the sky.
Hey all, sorry for not uploading yesterday, here's two to make up for it.

A Sound Beheld
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
The hummingbird,
It's joyous strain,
The cricket with,
His soft refrain,

The mountain side,
With cool assent,
The the ocean bed,
Where waves relent.

A chorus high,
On flowered fields,
That bring you back,
To killers yields.

Worlds End
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
In sorrow's end,
Where lovers meet,
Where death will call,
And mother's weep,

A fitting end,
To harrowed tales,
When lovers fall,
Emotion fails,

A dying kiss,
A lovesick heart,
And then we know,
We're worlds apart.
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
Don't forget to tell someone you love them.

A Heart in the Cold
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
A winter's day,
Has come to pass,
With empty dunes,
Where snow won't last,

Out hearts yearn forth,
With silent love,
But still we all,
Look up above,

A heart is young,
A heart is precious,
A heart that makes,
All people jealous.

A frozen glance,
A jealous gaze,
That's all they see,
Not love and anguish.
Merry Christmas, and if you're not a believer, well Merry Christmas anyway, It's a fun time where people should celebrate with family.

What If
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
My wish for the future,
A brighter one than now,
To meet my future family,
And love them, but how,

What if they don't accept.
Me as I am right now,
And what if they reject me,
That I can't allow,

If I ever meet them,
Me as I am right now,
How can I take care of them,
I'd love them, but how.
Thank you for trending my last poem, it means a lot to me! Thank you all.

My Promise
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
A promise is made,
To love you always,
A promise to love you,
And give you my praise,

A promise to keep,
You safe from all harm,
A promise to keep,
My heart from alarm,

A promise is love,
A beautiful sight,
A promise for life,
For you are my light,

My promise to you,
To love you always,
My promise to love you,
And give you my praise.
Love is a fickle mistress, it flips your life upside-down. It's the highest high, the lowest low, but in the end, it's worth every breath. Thank you all for reading.

An Empty Shell
Ian Fineman Dec 2018
Why do I cry,
When burning in hate,
Giving up love,
Start a clean slate,

A falling heart,
A withering soul,
My dead hands race,
Writhing in cold,

My fallen smile,
A lie, can you tell?
A figure to praise?
Or driven to hell?

— The End —
