Salt
Nazrana Kalil Nov 2020
There is anger dripping from my eye
and it tastes like salt.
It seasons the pain,
intensifies rage.
A plateful of emotions...
yet no one’s at fault

The line
Nazrana Kalil Jan 2020
We sit here in this mess,
A line between us thickened
I reach over to make your burden feel less
The air between us sickened

I feel the warmth radiating over this line
suddenly turning cold as a winters night
I reach over for your hand pushed aside
You scream deadly with a silent fight

a dumb poem
Nazrana Kalil Sep 2019
i see my reflection on a tear that fell from my eye
a deep breathe, a sigh
wrapped around a word and a lie.

all the things that's said and done
all the leaps i took from where our story begun
all the times i failed to realize the compliments were just for fun...

now I'm holding onto a breath with all my might
all the hurt i hide and the pain i fight
i  just pray to god he never cries the way i cried....

Coffee
Nazrana Kalil Sep 2018
You fill me to the brim
Like coffee on a Sunday morning.
Ive always loved that about you, you never gulped, you never rushed.
You paused inbetween, inhaling the brewed coffee beans.
You dipped into the cup with love and wonder,
Always took little sips to make the feeling last longer.

Stone
Nazrana Kalil Sep 2018
You're at it again
You once again carving patterns into  stones
You don't leave non Unturned
You toss them through the water creating beautiful ripples that sinks to the bottom of the lake.
And you say you don't ever regret any of those mistakes.

But I regret you
I regret letting you grab onto my body
I regret letting you toss me about
I regret letting you dust the dirt off me
I regret letting you cut into me carving pain into my skin
I regret every  inch.

Drown
Nazrana Kalil Sep 2018
If you could read my mind
You won't want to hear me out
If you could hear me out, you'll be speechless.
If you could read my mind
You'd drown.
You would drown listening to the rhythm of my tears
-dont ask what I'm thinking about.

He spoke...my fears.
Nazrana Kalil Aug 2018
He spoke about marriage like i was never part of the plan

He spoke of a wedding I would dreadfully be attending

He spoke about a wife that will hold him at night as i lay alone with my regrets.

He spoke of a person standing next to him as if i haven't fought for the love he neglects

He spoke about happiness like I've never tried to paint a smile on the canvas

He spoke of laughs he would share with a soul that wasn't mine.

He spoke about a life...i was no longer a part of.
He spoke of everything I've feard   and suddenly i see them in reality

my book
Nazrana Kalil Jul 2018
i treasure my old books,
especially the one on my bedside.
It holds a memorable romance
that i look forward to reading  at night

sometimes i study each word looking for a deeper meaning
i slip on my glasses trying to get cosy in a silk blanket seaming at whats left .
sometimes i read into each syllable searching for more depth
i come across a few pages through which blood and tears crept

sometimes i find myself thinking about the end
i toss and turn in my bed deciding on turning to the last page
condemned
sometimes my mind wanders off to a new story about a kiss between best friends
i beat myself up- hoping my book took no offence

sometimes my book doesn't like the attention
sometimes i wish i could crack open another spine
sometimes i crave a new book
a book that shows me constellations with a naked eye
an eye that's the key to the lock
the lock that's attached to the rib-cage he allowed me to crack
a crack that led me to to his heart.
a heart that finally had my name
as the title.

colours
Nazrana Kalil Jun 2018
I'm not sure if i should feel this way but something crept into my heart ever since...
and I'm not sure if its killing me or healing me.
i search for answer but you left no footprints.
It's as if the colours were washed out of my life but you came with every shade of red that stood not as lust but love,
every shade of blue like an ocean that washed away the 'blues' from my life.
you came with green that i once hated but ******* it do i love green once you wore it.
And suddenly white didn't seem so bland anymore when you smiled.
you make even the dullest colours seem like a rainbow to me
it comes alive and i swear i believe them when they said after rain there is a rainbow,
and at the end of the rainbow there is gold.
you, to me, became both.-  Nazrana Kalil

I Love You
Nazrana Kalil Jun 2018
studies finds that a person can fall in love four times in a lifetime
and yes i agree...its possible
I've loved you for the first time when i was much younger
when your youth just began and mines still soft and tender

I've loved you for the second time.
I've loved you when you randomly spoke in low tones
when your voice deepened and mines high pitched with hormones

I've loved you for the third time.
I've loved you when you held my trust and smiled at another
when your mouth finally reached your cheeks and mines shudder

I've loved you for the fourth time.
I've loved you when you touched my lips and held my hand gently
when you whispered little secrets while i sang to the river intensely

I love you for the times you showed me the depths of my soul confusions.
i love you for the unknown steps you followed unknowingly conducting an intrusion.

i love you for so many reasons
but mostly, I love you for proving the studies wrong
as I've fallen in love with you everyday for the pass one thousand eight hundred and twenty five days
and i swear i will keep falling in love with you
just,
you...

One-be prepared to gamble away everything that belongs to you

Two-you will need to feel the depths of his soul
without receiving a simple' thank you'

three-you shouldn't feel bad oh hungry soul,
he just does not know.

four- he does not know the quality love he's been served free of charge
the amount to fill him up to the second galaxy and so much more
he does not know
but let .
It.
Go

five-never let 'him' go
make him stay
there's so much more you need to entice him with,
to make him feel...
to make him see.

six- let him see you naked.
show him the space no one has ever seen of you.
Show him your naked soul.

seven-the scarred soul
show him how your mind always sees the sorry side of everything
show him how the light gleams from within your mouth following the scars of love trailing down your throat
and moving into your heart.

eight- show him your heart.
the place he should be calling home.
the place that has no place for names but his.
a name that was bitten into the flesh by his teeth.

nine- show him your teeth.
show him the smile that captured hearts but never his
show him the smile that took you places,
scenery and destinations

Ten- find destination in his heart

Ten-never lose hope when there's no room

Ten- make reservation for another day

Ten-try not to look at his residents inside.

Ten-never put up a fight.

Ten- my fears and hopes start to collide

Ten-my fears and hopes start to collide

Ten-my fears and hopes start to collide

Ten-my teacher taught me repetition increases memory and success in reaching your goal
but I'm sorry
its time to just
let him
go...

Wounded
Nazrana Kalil May 2018
slipped my leg into the room
let the temperature seek your soul
lend your hand,
never let go.
Chain yourself down and forget the door.

there's something creeping from the corner
a knife tucked in the bed
metal to flesh
a ring tight on her finger
yet mine,still,
volume and depth

head turned away
a smile determined to stay
the little space reserved
but all went in vain
and the metal curved

send me to sleep whisper "this was all a dream"
bury the smile, put up a fight
you see the problem was-
i entered with my left foot,
not my right

Sacrifice Denied
Nazrana Kalil May 2018
Left a trail, praying
you do not delay
follow the flow of blood
its here to stay.

See the eyes full of pride
Touch the stinging pain inside
The red waiting to rectify.
So is this the love you deny?

I'm not the sweetness that blinds
I'm not the golden you'll leave behind
I'm not something you'll hope to find
I'm just the love you denied

You were the one who ran from the sanctified
you were the wrong i justified
you were the perfect that love disguised
you were the wrestle I
...despised.

Heedless
Nazrana Kalil May 2018
felt by the touch
too light to feel
the absence

Crossed the line
too faint to see
the fading

Blinded by his love
I was too scared
to hear
the truth...

insanity
Nazrana Kalil May 2018
I'm here, wide awake
trying to cleanse myself,
from the very beginning
but ten years is way too little to access

you see,
I've shed way too many tears trying,
trying to wash away the impurities
I've spent way too much time
doubting the purity of my loves truth
and in that time-creating insanity

so forgive me if i coughed on you
i didn't mean to steal your clarity and make you impure too
but i promise from now on
I'll hope for the love
the pure love
your love.

Everything But Nothing
Nazrana Kalil May 2018
I'm a maze that you'll get lost in
but i swear you'll love the scenery i bring
i'm a puzzle with one too many pieces missing,
hoping your heart will make me whole again.

I'll be your kitchen.
with your consent I'll keep feeding your soul.
I'll be your karaoke machine,
entertaining the rhythm of your heart-beat.

Let me be your everything,
if not, at least your something.

I'm a sponge that will absorb every emotion you drop on me.
I'll be your supplier when your heart is in drought.
I'm a memory box that will remember and capture every smile you flashed at me,
I'll be your supplier when your dimples have forgotten.

I'm the strawberry lip-gloss that shines and softens when your fingertips brushes over me,
I'll be your supplier when your lips have dried
I'll be all you want me to be
only if you'd let me...

I thought i could be everything for you
but i cannot be the pillow you get comfortable on.
i cannot be the lens through which you can see clearly from.
i cannot be the shadow that follows your every move.
i cannot be the light, the one you call your muse.
i cannot be the fire that warms the coldness inside.
i cannot be the the novel that keeps you contently mystified.
i cannot be the blood that pumps through your veins.
i cannot be the teacher who teaches you how to love again.
i cannot be anything, not something, but just- nothing.
