Comfort is a funny thing
All graciousness and charm at first
Like cotton down or endless cups
Or a pool of cool atop the earth

But in too much comfort and you will drown
In the constant reassurance of self worth

Too much of that comfort will actually keep you
From the discovery of new to be found
At work

And by work I mean
THE SEARCH
Stagnation kills creativity folks. Ya gotta take risks. Note to self.

One of these days
my heart will escape my rib cage
And my lungs will choke my throat
My ears will whisper lies
And tell me it's time to go.
We are the lighthouse
the night watchman
a brief burst
a flash
watching
as the waves crash
until
daylight
dims the candles.

Like a tree, I must stand alone,
to free my branches, to free my soul,
while the wildgrass withers
here and near, the lonely tree
stands tall alone.
I wrote this after studying introversion in my room. Perhaps there is a certain strength in being the silent one, the one with the least but strongest words. In the same way, those who are extroverted may stretch themselves too far and become overwhelmed by the senses/expectations.

I snap my fingers in a crowded room
Call out quietly to the one of you
And wait patiently for fate to turn
For the clock chimes to unwind
And ruminate aloud

Will your song give me a chance to hear
My words to speak
If the world
Tries to tear us apart
I'll build a rocket ship
And we'll colonize Mars
Her heart painted waves
Deeper than her rising flames
We saw a world
bruised and beautiful
The world kept moving forward
constantly in motion
while ours fell apart
The streets covered with snow and sleds,
children no longer lying in cozy beds;
Sleep is a waste when the outdoors calls,
this new season brings merriment to all !

Spinning like tops while skating on ponds,
seeing ourselves mirrored in icy lawns;
Snow-forts built with love and care,
frost nips away in the clean crisp air.

Building a snowman up on the hill,
down feathers fight off the icy chill;
Sharing with friends many Christmas treats,
slipping and sliding to a jolly old beat !

Songs on high from the chirping birds,
cardinals calling out their sweetened words;
As an evergreen sits so majestic and tall,
a welcome wonderland of joy for one and all !
Post-Christmas memories of childhood fun !
