Little bird you cannot fly today
I can see you broke your wing
how is it then outside my door
though in pain I hear you sing
Little bird I've wounds as well
and broken places I can’t feel
if you’ll share a song with me
together maybe we can heal
Little bird we know life is hard
and I'm afraid but ready to try
if you’ll teach me how to sing
perhaps tomorrow we can fly

Everyone loves you
the world is your stage
each line well rehearsed
you’re the latest craze
yet alone in the darkness
a child cries out
unmasked and revealing
a heart filled with doubt
today they love you
what if tomorrow they don’t
how well will you sleep
knowing your demons won’t

Flightless Birds
so it would seem
we paint memories
yet fear to dream
While if you try
you may not prevail
if you do not
you’ll always fail
So for one moment
put your brush away
smile and dare
to dream today

No one sees the ugly scars
sadly that is no one but you
I see the loveliness you are
and soon I hope you will too
All they taught you was a lie
but now it’s up to you alone
you’d be it if you believed it
and claimed it as your own
Being beautiful is a choice
not some gift for us to give
don’t let lies hold you back
you’re alive it’s time to live

To the capricious winds our seeds are sewn
Into the empty darkness, our way unknown
Run child, run and hide, run quickly away
Eternity laughs most cruelly, and in the end
Dreams almost never touch the light of day

People seem to be born to come and go
and a precious few will touch your heart
if you love them you must let them grow
even though it may mean you grow apart

An artist paints himself in memories
and long lost dreams of yesteryears
lying in a field of laughing daffodils
he waters each with endless tears
Placing a box of love that never was
with shaking hands upon the shelf
wondering why it’s so hard to find
while he cannot love or find himself
Recklessly navigating a sea of sorrow
wishing to dive into its deadly deep
but lacking the courage for even that
a child slowly cries himself to sleep

Seasons fade
into the years
a pen ablaze
with poet’s tears
A young boy
must be a man
to please the one
he never can
A girl in pain
lamenting fate
her trickster gods
arrived too late
Everyone took
and no one gave
an empty race
to fill a grave
Hearts are broken
love’s a *****
start a party
throw a war
I fear that I
forgot to say
I love you
it’s too late today
No more tears
to write or cry
alone at night
still asking why

Love yourself
love the world
and the world
will love you too
after all
can’t you see
this crazy place
is only you

A child went missing years before
ever unsure he dared not feel
even prayed it all would go away
and now awakens afraid it will
Gazing back burdened by regret
seeing at last he’d been blind
although many had let him down
hadn’t he repaid each in kind
An angry child cries out in vain
a weary old man softly sighs
pondering fate questioning why
so few live yet everyone dies
Too quickly still another day falls
asleep within the setting sun
and as one day none will remain
why then waste a single one
