I sit with a crackling fireplace Hit chocolate in y hand trying to forget the Animals who can't seem to escape the harsh snow. I sit twitting my thumbs with nothing to do But fall into a deep trance about the beauty of summer. I could feel the summer sun glistening on my Sun kissed skin, sending giddy shivers down my back. The saltiness of the ocean dancing in my mouth Make me crave the water on my skin even more. As I walk up the beach the sand squishing Through each toe every step I take. The presence of freckles scattered unevenly across my face. My hair as blonde as gold flowing in the swift wind. As I sip a drink made from strawberries, The birds overhead shirt in absolute unison. But then, I look out the window and see the snowflakes falling, And my wishes for summer calling.

Poem revision
The sharp line separating where the sun met your skin And where it was protected by your shirt is more prominent than ever Because you forgot to lather on your sunscreen. The dirt settles into a thin film Covering every inch of your body Caking into your hair making it feel Like you haven't washed your hair for days. The bugs are constantly buzzing around your face Leaving bites up and down your arms Making them itchy and irritated. But, the sunburns, dirt filled clothes, and bugs Only strengthens my love for the game.

Softball (free verse)
Love is a dark blue ocean filled with Nooks and crannies never explored before, By the variety of fish on the ocean floor. Love is a yellow swing set, lonely at night Until someone comes along to the swing and takes flight.

Metaphor
Dear Mother Nature, No matter which school teach you ask, they Will say they don't play favorites.so why must you treat Florida, South Carolina, And Georgia so well? Showering them with gifts of sunshine and warmth, while Michigan is on a Timeout from Nivember to March. If you ask me, iris not fair, You should give all of us a fair share. From, a very cold Michigander

Untitled
When I think of nature, I think of blues, pinks, and greens meshing together As one to create one beautiful sunset. I think of grass as green as emeralds Twinkling when the sun beams down into perfect Streaks of yellow warmth. I think of peace, engulfing All the birds, trees, and sun into one beautiful Earth.

Nature
The wind blows the leaves. Birds chirping in the spring air, Peace cascading the field.

Haiku
As I sit with a crackling fireplace, The gloom of winter beats down on the Poor animals who struggle to find shelter. I sit twirling my thumbs with nothing To do but think about the warmth Of the summer sun glistening on my skin While splashing in the salty water of the Ocean and sand squishing between my Toes. The presence of freckles on my face, And hair as blonde as gold. Sitting with A fruit drink in my hand, Listening to the birds chirping in unison. But then, I look out the window and see the snowflakes falling, And my wished for summer calling.
