speaking to a crowd
candles lit
a soliloquy I spoke
the contrary theme of
mental strain and burden
mixed with speeches of friendship and belonging
music brings people together
loudly it pulled me apart
you saw through all of it
through the fake confidence
the false leadership
you understood me
through hefty sobs and long talks
snotty noses and red faces
i felt true belonging in a world where
people are secretly crumbling
and heroes show their true colors
silently
we are two people who feel it all

windows down
i hold hands with the wind
and watch as the stars draw nearer
and the sun drifts farther away
the memories of music
fading into the background
my ears ringing
with the sounds of you
—
the crackle of fireworks
begin to erupt before me
and i try to caress the light
that reflects in your eyes
touching the moment
before it fizzles away
into atoms
into
nothingness

you came.
i silently hoped you wouldn't keep me waiting
we talk for hours
even as the sun goes down
and you stay,
even when the breeze becomes
less than comfortable
inching closer
only for the moment to be interrupted
by silence and an abrupt goodbye
do you feel the way i did?
or are we destined for unspoken truths,
and sentiments we aren't ready for.
if only our hugs lasted a moment longer,
and our fingers intertwined just a little tighter

today is so sunny
so beautiful
I forget all mishaps
and remember the good memories
that occurred
on bright days like this one
but I dwell
on the future
what it has in store
all the new moments
and stories
and decisions
the year seems to
go by so fast
I am asking myself
"why hold on?"
"why hold on,
when the future demands you
to let go?"

like the autumn wind
you brought chills down my spine
the trees
plentiful with colors
the colors of you
so pretty only to fall
onto the ground
and disappear forever
so sudden
the autumn wind
so unexpected
and I guess,
like the seasons
you come and go
only temporary
never forever
