Don’t put your head Up anyone’s backside You can’t think in there And you’ll do Some really dumb stuff So keep your head straight Just don’t go there Learn, pray, and For everyone’s sake Keep your head In a clean, sane space Learn to think for yourself

Think For Yourself
Outside a broom Slowly sweeps up The broken pieces Of dreams, and Shattered lives of Those who lived Within glass houses A buttercup is growing Up through a crack In the pavement, yes Life will finds a way To bounce back, and Restore a bit of beauty

Broken Lives
I hold my breath You hold yours We're 'bout to take that leap So catch a good breath These waters look deep I say, yes, I will leap with you Into the deep The day, down the aisle My dad said with a smile Breathe, Just lean on me Life doesn't just happen We make it live, make it life And sometimes we make life As we now are leaping For more than two Me plus you, plus who? You hold your breath But say, "Don't hold yours, Breathe." Now catch a good breath Those waters look deep, mama Hours later our 1st is born. And we'll have one more Now we're leaping for four Together we held our breath And took that leap Caught a good breath Before the waters so very deep And we saw our reflections On the water day after day Life happens, but does not stay So, catch a good breath The waters of life are deep, Deep, deep But together we can take the leap 'Cause sometimes life does just happen It happens in deep waters It happens on earth It happens that we all return to the dust Life is a leap into the unknowable Deep waters.

Life Happens
The rain has abated for now. We have an overcast sky. No visible sun from where I sit. But it's Thursday, With more of the same to come. Enjoy your gateway day into the weekend.

The Gateway Day
The wave crests It falls on me And I am adrift In a dark, raging sea Hoping for somebody To come on and rescue me Rescue me and give me hope Let love be my float Come rescue me I've lived my life I'm not lonely I like my own company But there are times In the middle of a dark night I don't want to be adrift Rescue me and give me hope Let your love be my float Come rescue me I am tired of carrying the weight Tired of mundane days I need someone nearby Someone to hold me when I cry Someone to listen when I sigh I don't want to be adrift Rescue me, anchor me Let love be the ship That comes to rescue me I'm reaching out For the lifesaver And then for a steady anchor I see you coming into view I'll know when it is you A love that will be true I've been waiting For you, for me, to be one Come rescue me Rescue, rescue Rescue me And I'll rescue you

Our Shame
Dedicated to Lori & Rodney Copeland, childhood friends and my childhood Alvin peeps If I have grown old What of old friends Who’ve grown apart And then back again Years spent around our tables Years of children and laughter Tears were shed together Hands were held Fears were conquered Darkness vanquished, too If I have grown old What of old friends Years spent around our tables Years of children and laughter Each friend held our hearts As each was held in our own We felt that we were never alone If I have grown old And I have grown old What of old friends Well, so have you But we felt that we were never alone With old friends 'round You are never alone Old friends, you are my home

Old Friends
Before his time Like deadheaded flowers Dry and brittle Seeds blown in a wind Death grasped his hand And led him from my garden Like the brittle petals That blows so easily away He was too brief and could not stay So blow, blow in the bitter wind I'll catch your dry seeds And plant them Then our garden will grow again one day Spring up, spring up You lovely flowers Curl and climb, you green ivies Then our garden will grow again

Winter's Garden for Aaron
My rainbow birds have all flown away On bended knees with tears, I begged them, "Stay!" If I have done anything to send you on your way For love's sake, please, say, say, say. Love doesn't fly forever, away, away, away. Nor then forever does it stay, stay, stay. Come back to shine in my eyes like sparkling crystals. Come glimmer in the leaves of the emerald trees. Come be my forever fantasy world where I can hide away I promise to never wake again, not in the night nor the day. In glints of golden dreams, I want to be away to stay. I dreamed of you last night.

Rainbow Birds, I Dreamed
If you love Rain drops Snowfall Starshine Moonglow Come, be my lover If you love Wild nature Mountain highs Deep snow in the pines If desire Soft touches Gentleness A hand to hold If you wish for Fairytale cabins With forever dreams Under skies of gold Come, be my lover and friend To live in the mountains Where Wonderland begins
