There’s tally’s on my wrist
And red waterfalls cascading
They count the times I’ve lost it
Blaring pain that is invisible to all but me
No more can I really breathe
There’s a thick hot mess pooling at my feet
My heart still beats to keep me alive
No matter how much I want to be dead inside
I need this feeling to stop
Like I need oxygen to breathe
Water to survive
Food to eat
But I can’t find the answer to the need
While there’s tally’s on my wrist
And red waterfalls cascading
I think I have all the solutions I need

Used to search for feathers
Now they’re all I see
Used to look at lettuce
Now I just see memories
Crushed your eggs
While looking at the hole that appeared last night
You were chased and cornered
No way to put up a fight
I wish they picked on someone their size
But they didn’t so I hope life quickly left your eyes
Never thought you’d see the dirt this way
A way where you don’t scratch and scavenge
It hurts to think about you no longer breathing
It hurt so much that at first I was seething
I’m so sorry my little bubbly’s
