American I write life. Raw, suburban life
There is a six year old boy with a bike and training wheels in tow He is zooming up and down the culdesac on a tuesday afternoon because it's sunny and that's what he knows. I can see him. He's been there for an hour and a half. The whole time he's been focusing on the road and his goal to get to the other side and back again. It reminds me so much of my childhood. When the wind whistled in your ears just because it could. It's 1pm on a tuesday afternoon and i'm watching him have the time of his life while i'm shut up in my room. I can see him grinning and laughing and smiling. on his red race bike, fast as lightning. He doesn't know yet that there are kids faster than him, he doesn't know what lies around the street corners on both end. But he's living life to the fullest extent. He barely realizes that his mom is dead. I think his name is Dylan. I think he has ambition. I think he sees the world in high definition. And i’m jealous of his position, for while he races and dips. I droll on in the rolling doldrums of tuesday afternoon. He zooms, while I’m shut up in my room

I am nature I am open and wild and free I am the wind rushing down canyons and the hollering in banyans I am a bird that sings I am molecules upon cells upon bones against things I am civilization. The trapped, fluorescent lighting in a library basement. The cake walks and small talks and forced conversation. I am the beeps and hums and dirt on bums. I’m the faraway cell phone that rings. I am molecules upon cells upon bones against things. I am exuberance A child giggling loud sounds of joy Puzzle completers and Christmas toys Smiles and laughs and leaves of grass The casino machine that dings I am molecules upon cells upon bones against things I am anger. Tears, scares, and not fighting fair. I am the red in your eyes as you cry. I am a ghoul that comes out in the night. I am the cut that won’t cease to sting. I am molecules upon cells upon bones against things. I am ideas Originality through and through Creations of my own evolve in my mind Great sinewy thoughts searching for actions to bind Mister Cleans and Daedalus wings I am molecules upon cells upon bones against things I am silence. Quiet. Tight. Composure. Open. Weary. Closure. I am the stillness of being. I am molecules upon cells upon bones against things.* I am alive I set Rube Goldberg machines into action I contemplate, gravitate, and try not to hate I breathe and I heave and I believe I use my eyes to see I am molecules upon cells upon bones against things I am dead. I’m a sideshow reflection of the man I could be. I am lazy cold and clammy. Hopefully I can get my heart beating again. Then I could be me, molecules upon cells upon bones against things

I journey through the empty street renewed taking time for meter and love for smack Yes I, stroll grandly down the avenue Muttering soft to keep my mind from you moon howling, shooting through the shades of black I journey through the empty street renewed For in the dark, hungry my thoughts will chew demons rumble, angels sing, electrons crack Yes I, stroll grandly down the avenue Eyes of the omnipresent shut with glue I live the naked me, there is no act I journey through the empty streets renewed I told the silence what it ought to do steering dead sidewalks, commanding shy bats Yes I, stroll grandly down the avenue I run, I dance, I sing, I love, I move I strangle reality and invent fact I journey through the empty street renewed Yes I, stroll grandly down the avenue
