I am an entertainment attorney heading a 9 person firm in Beverly Hills, CA. I am also the recording artist and songwriter, Trevor McShane, and my band plays out in the Southern California area. I've been regularly writing songs and poetry since 1993. I recently published a book of love poems, "What Took You So Long," reviewed by the prestigious Midwest Book Review as follows: "167 of these very special words and rhymes ... honor the magic and mystery of romantic love ... Each of these funny, sweet, quirky, and heartwarming poems were written in love, and about love. Don't be surprised about the impact they make, because love makes life worth living. / ... If you only have time in your life for just one book of poetry, or as a librarian if you only have the budget to add one more book of poetry to your collection, then make it (this) -- and you'll never regret it." / / I very much enjoy this site, which gets me away from the daily grind and introduces me to lots of cool verse.
I was born the day I met you Since then, I’ve been living large You connect the dots It’s down the Loire on a barge It’s an exotic bike crew Well, a countryside somewhere cool It’s a trip down to Amazon We’re just sitting on the stool Going fishing somewhere With you as good company It was the beginning of an endless journey It’s the story of you and me I can’t believe that I found you And I’ll never let you go Our future keeps on expanding Sometimes we take it slow But it’s the endless variation Of your personality It always keeps me laughing And let’s me know what is real

I never thought I would find someone Who would mean so much to me I was in such a wretched state A ship lost at sea But a miracle happened The remedy You appeared and fell for me Mr Solo became “we” The years have passed But we remain steadfast Happy is our life A happy man I am Happy is the wife I’m a lucky man Yes, oh yes indeed The best is yet to come That’s our reality I got her and she’s got me That’s all we really need Shout it, I do say Enthusiastically

It’s a delicate balance Affairs of the heart You dive in Hoping to start some permanency You give it your best Then it’s wait and see Will she be the one? Eventually? You hope for the glow That magical aura The sun, will it show? It’s a delicate balance Good luck to your heart Disappointment lurks I’ve been there Believe me Stopping at start When it was back to me When Mary left It took three years to heal Then there was Dawn Until she said “good night” And took off with Paul Don’t know why, I still gripe Ah, the delicate balance When it fails, there’s no salve for the wound You don’t give up Not without a fight You keep your head up On the alert for what’s right For that moment of warmth For that someone of worth For a love that will work For that delicate balance For true love and romance Yeah, the works

Delicate Balance
Indispensable Exceptional Inspirational Oh my goodness So much goodness Surrounding me She’s the one My only one She believes in me, in us For eternity So it is So it goes On and on and on She and me in perpetuity Gone, we’re just gone Into the essence of triumphant love A romance for all time Goodness gracious sakes alive So lucky she is mine

Goodness Gracious Sakes Alive
Tours d’amour Love tricks Emotionally bruised In need of kissing chemistry I may be out But I’m not down I tried, yes I did But I’m just her jester I now realize There to amuse Our romance contrived Tours d’amour Indeed But I’ve gotten out alive I’ve learned Been burned Earned battle stripes Emerged scathed But would do it again For the chalice, the elixir That is love Where you give your heart In search of nirvana I know I will find it I must dare Notwithstanding tours d’amour My true one waits for me

Tours D'Amour
Let’s get lost in each other Disappear into love Hang out forever Just hang on I promise you a ride incredible Life is an adventure We’re the secret sauce Since we found each other Love’s the coup de grace I promise you everything All the best of me Pleasure beyond measure We’ll sail the seven seas Weather all storms together Brave through any hard times All because we’ve found the magic Allowing us to get lost In each other for we are Truly star-crossed

Let's Get Lost in Each Other
It’s hard for me to cry Except in a movie theater Thanks to the wall I’ve built Chipping away at my soul And this hole in my heart You see, I’ve been hurt She turned away But I’m not going to let it affect me No way I’m stoic No one will do this again I’m done with love I got me That’s enough Oh, they can try But I’m tough I don’t cry anymore Unless it’s a movie

Crying
Brenda was sobbing in the produce aisle Her marriage had evaporated With twins in the second grade She needed to get ahead Could she be a romance writer? Maybe she could Maybe she would She wrote early in the morning And after the kids went to bed As an adjunct professor She kept the kids fed Writing, dreaming of love And being oh so lonely She would not date on the internet Because deception is real She wrote of a handsome man With a heart she could steal That day at the supermart Was the first of many more For someone came to comfort her Meet Henry, who managed the store Tall, dark and handsome, he stopped “Are you OK,” he said He put his arm around her Then whispered, “Can I buy you a smoothie?” Brenda said “Sure” Now Henry had his own issue His wife had died in an accident He too was hurt He was scared of love But very kind Still, he was hopeful Though flying blind She thereafter shopped daily At The Old Farm Store Henry was always there to greet her To make sure she got the best discounts As to her book, she self-published and it took off The protagonists are based on Henry And Brenda of course Now they’re living the truth Proof that love can rise up from sorrow Even from a produce aisle There’s hope in every tomorrow Makes one smile
