between what
my heart says

She was once cold as an ice
and hard as a rock
she wouldn’t let anyone get to close
she couldn’t bear -
catching feelings
all those unwanted feelings
“it will only mess me up” she said
“why would I take risks?” she added
she kept on building walls
walls so high
so that no one could get in
so that “she wouldn’t get hurt”
But the truth is
she wanted someone
to change her -
and that perspective
she wanted to change
she wanted to be loved
Little did she know
she fell for a hero
he caught her heart
he made her fall in love
little did she know
she was changing
she became the girl she wished
he was brave enough
to break the walls she built
he was everything she asked for
no matter how high the walls were
the walls were no match for his love
his love for her.
