This mask I've donned is a smiling one, And knows no other form. It turns my rain to a happy sun, And icy cold to warm. I doff it in the solace of night, When all eyes but mine close. And soliloquy to dying light. The walls will know my throes.

My cry rustles as leaves in a crowded park. A quiet sound. An imperceptible sound. Who shall interpret the dry scraping of bark? Or mourn the rotten leaves fallen to the ground.

Moments of joy punctuated by tear stains, Read, but mind you don't rip the paper. Ink weeps through weakened lanes, Blurred words bleed laughter, then taper.

Manifest my epitaph, Cessation of rain. Weep sap, my cist. Weep pus, my cyst. Recoil from evidence of pain, Turn your face, o bramble bush. My river shall pass under your leaves, Choked not by your thorns.
