A social commentary
They are powerful and great,
Sometimes nice but wait,
There are times they scorn you,
There are times their false when its truth is true
There are times they carry a lot
A times they are cold or hot,
Sometimes meaningful int its way
While other times it seems darker than some days.
They can be wonderful at times yes,
Horrified in some days filled with stress,
And there are times you want to shut it down
Or when needed or for it not to make a sound,
Silent is sometimes gold,
Sometimes it gets really, really old,
While there are times to speak very loudly
Then at times it will love or hate or me,
There are times we’ll just do what the Beatles suggest and let it be.
You love me then you hate me
A game for fools you see
But painful not soothing or cool
But rough at times like a fool
Just dumb at times in different times
At times cruel to be kind,
While praising you one hand
Then downing me to kiss your ***
The stab me in the back and then get away fast.
It cuts **** a knife deep
It even haunts me in my sleep,
While killing me softly at times so sadly
Then cussing at me badly,
Your words hurt me so
Deeper than you’ll even know.
Sometimes loud and wrong
And sometimes you’ll sell those words for just a song
Or sometimes *****
Sometimes nerdy,
Sometimes slick
With a little coolness quick as a wick.
Words can be light as a feather
Capable to stand any kind of weather.
It can be strong and tall,
Sometimes fast or not all.
No matter it’s homeland or country
No matter the color it maybe
Or expressions kind or mean
No matter hidden or even seen
Or what wars that battled
Know this much that world do matter,

Please stop shooting
Please stop shooting me
Please stop shooting us---
Bullets flying everywhere
Killing others like they don’t care,
Even when you’re in they are or not in the cross hairs
Of an enemy that don’t care or swear
To get rid of us all
Once and for all.
If you’re black you die!
If you’re brown, you die!
If you’re gay you die!
One by one they die,
Be prepare to meet your maker, why
Because we don’t want you here.
On the streets runs red blood
To every person in my neighborhood
Plain and simple you don’t belong here!
Here’s my gun in hand
Ready to **** everyone from my land---
You don’t belong here.
Hate spills out on the streets,
To every person we do meet---
You mean nothing to me!
The hell with your religion and such,
The hell with you because of how I hate so much
The sight of you so I **** them all!
This my gun my oath to ****
Die if you must but still
I don’t want you here!
This is hate heard out loud
From with guns shooting proud,
Because you don’t belong here!
This is my gun my sworn duty
To **** as much and as many,
Simply you don’t belong here!
They killed Malcolm X and Dr. King
Because they wanted the same thing,
And you have no right here
Too many of you cluttering up my space,
Too many of you taking away from us this human race,
Because you don’t belong here!
This is my gun my creed
To get rid of people like you with speed,
And don’t belong here!
The lies you tell of our children in school
The lies and breaking of rules---
Because you don’t belong here!
Your skin is too dark for me
Only my whiteness can set me free
Because you don’t belong here!
Please don’t shoot
Please don’t shoot me!
Please don’t shoot us
At the end one by the graves of those died!
One by one of those dying while bullets fly,
Flying all over the place
Killing every soul and sweet little face
And they don’t care.
The voices echoed in the air,
Of those who died while death don’t play no favorites or play fair,
Defining God in His face
How dear them!
Please stop shooting me
Please stop shooting
Please stop
Please...
Silence.

in memory of Whitney Houston
Can you hear in the air
sounds of loveliness divine,
That is heard everywhere
No matter where you are.
She was the voice of generations
That goes beyond where we are,
A voice so divine ringing like a bell
Rejoicing and singing out in song.
The beauty of a voice so divine....
Now silent from a distant,
We hear no more,
A beautiful voice so divine
That once soar
Higher and higher
A voice so divine....

Money, money, money
Give me money, money, money.
Money, money, money
Give me money, money, money.
I would die for my green paper
But they better pay me right with my green paper.
Mama needs to buy food with that green paper,
Daddy needs to get his kicks with that green paper.
What about the preacher man?
He needs that green paper.
And the baby mama needs that green paper
But the baby daddy won’t give up the green paper.
The rich man lives off the green paper
The poor needs that green paper.
Everybody’s going to need that green paper
You know you need that green paper.
Rev. Ike preached about the green paper
To buy more stuff with the green paper
But when he died, he couldn’t take it with him
And so, the green paper stays here.
Can you spear one or two of that green paper?
I need it to eat
I need to live
That green, green paper.
There’s some who will steal it
Rob somebody for it
**** somebody for it
That green, green paper.
The Good Book says the love it
Yes, the love of it is evil
But there’s so many out there
Who will die for that green paper.
Money, money, money
Give me money, money, money.
Money, money, money---
Too late it’s over for you---
Click, click BOOM!

to daddy
As I sit and write these words
Thinking of you in some small way,
Finding just the right thing to say--
In a moment like this.
Through the laughter and pain,
Days of sorrow lingering and then
Those wonderful beginnings and sad end
With memories like this.
Family times cherished
In every moment of space and time
Days and nights we would find
Tender moments shared.
In hearts we are saddened
But memories are flowing,
Moments and times showing
Of family’s best days are ahead.
Weep not but rejoice
In the fine days behind
And then redeeming the time
Each day of our lives.
Keep the faith
And don’t lose sight
Of those precious moments that were right
And precious in every moment.
As I write these words
Coming from the heart
Despite you’ve depart
Our love for you is still there.
We cherish the moments of our lives,
We cherish those moments left to share,
Keeping family close as we care,
Those precious moments of our lives.
Memories shared with each other
As time moves onward on
Cherished while you are gone
As time goes on and on.

I can’t breathe!
For eight minutes and 46 seconds
George Floyd cried
Just before he died
Before those who saw him pinned down.
I can’t breathe!
For eight minutes and 46 seconds
George Floyd cried aloud
And being witnessed by the crowd
Just as he gets pinned down.
It took eight minutes and 46 seconds
To **** a man
Dying for no reason,
Like it’s like killing season
But why **** a man that can’t breathe?
For eight minutes and 46 seconds,
Where a police officer decides to play God
To press their knee on his neck and what’s odd
That they pinned him down
But he couldn’t breathe.
It was eight minutes and 46 seconds
They left a man to die
On the street why?
Why use their knee to ****
And now the world stands still
To see what will happen next. 19 April 2020

concrete jungle
with skyscrapers stretching high
stretching upward
like trees grand in stature
and cities growing
more and more.
i can’t help marvel
at what we see
the splendor of it all
the grand of it all
of what this urban jungle is.
poverty,
drugs,
the heat of the city burns
the power of the city churns
but standing tall
is the greatest beast of them all----
mankind.

Just in case you get this message
Be sure to tell it to the sister
Who’s down and out
Who lost their way,
Who no longer have hope
And now don’t care anymore.
Just in case you get this message
Be sure to tell the brother man
Who’s lost his job,
Who’s lost hope,
Whose manhood is gone
And now he doesn’t care anymore.
HOLD ON!
Your change is coming
So, HOLD ON!
Your change is coming
So, HOLD ON!
HOLD ON!
There is hope for you!
There is hope for you!
There’s hope for YOU!

We live moment by moment
Time after time,
Allotted to us one day after day
Until you’ll surely find
Time slipping away slowly
And before you know it,
It’s gone!
We are appointed to die
God says so and it’s His rule.
This something one can’t deny
For you have to know like you’re in school
The lessons of life being applied
Even times like these.
We continue to live moment by moment
By the grace of God,
We are living in this world
Moment by moment in time.
We live moment by moment,
Time after time
Only allotted to us one day at a time.

I open my mouth—
And the words are there
But all of a sudden nothing comes out
And those few words that’s shared
Still flows on no doubt.
I write the words down—
And there’s no meaning or rhyme
Or poetic measures to skip a beat
Like a stop watch no doubt
And something to make me tap my feet.
I write down my thoughts—
But it’s just not the same
With those fashioned together so
Making me scream and shout your name
To make the whole world surely know.
Somebody give back my groove!
Somebody give me back my groove
Somebody give me back my groove!
