She sits in silence as they stare Pity fills the space between her and them as she listens And hears Their minds wonder what she's capable of They see disability while she is trapped inside a disconnected body That won't bend to her will But she's smart She hears all She knows the innermost secrets that cross their minds As they sit obliviously judging her Though they know nothing of the magic within her She won't show them She dare not let them in For the fear of what they might think If they knew just how much she knows of who they truly are So she hides in her prison of a body Waiting for the day someone looks into her eyes and sees her beyond what she can say or do And it's safe to be herself and live in her truth Hoping one day they can hear her too

The Waiting
Desperate kisses cling to good But what's left is less than me 'I don't love you's' fill the wood And creep through the trees The woods can see me clearly Through shade and flowy moss As I look into those black glass eyes Realizing our love is now just loss Grief strikes slowly and then faster as tears fall We really can't have everything Or anything at all Pain strikes the heart of me And everybody sees We can walk endlessly together But I can't hide in loveless trees

Loveless Trees
Sit with me Let my mind wonder to a place Where you smile and take my hand And while the world rushes around us Get lost in me Fall in love with the 'some days' And the breath-taking 'maybe's' to come Where the earth doesn't dare crumble beneath our feet and swallow us to our necks But instead, we remain above ground, unburdened by pressure on our chests Saying a prayer that doesn't reach amen, but goes on in praise for the peace we've craved And finally found together

Our Prayer
When she opened her eyes, She breathed deeply, her first breathe of new life The sun was different; Light touching her shoulders and weighing her down So she doesn't drift away somewhere... Fly again; she could soar so easy Not this time... This time, her feet are bare and buried in dirt, She's planting herself In sobriety It hurts like hell to grow roots when your soils rocky And she's standing on top of ***** boulders With each day, her roots go deeper, around the giant rocks, through the smallest cracks, She's sprouting, She's alive, And when she breaks through and the sun hits her this time.. The light's not heavy... She wants to grow, And as she reaches higher, Her roots wrap around her boulders... And they don't stop Until you wouldn't even know her foundation is rocks All you know is she's strong, She's worth it to the sun, And the soil, and the rain The thing about flowers... Is we belong with pain To be beauty from sickness Sends off seeds of hope into the wind For those who aren't strong enough, To know where to begin With a little water, sunshine... and time This sprout, will be a sunflower In a field of daisies that don't matter, Sunflower, follow the sun
