American I'm confident that you're all brilliant
The shiny sun of high summer darkens his flesh He's a tall heroic frame of lust Who reeks of *** and musky confidence A powerful aftershave to stick to my skin His smile so wide, his teeth so perfect, no stains to hide His jaw so powerful from biting necks His skin so smooth, like black velvet Creamy like black tar Shoulders so broad and easy to hold Let me lick that dip between your collarbone. And pull all that hair that's grown Curly black and matted to your scalp Until the night has come Until midnight is late.

"Haiku"
Laying on top of gold tiled floors in a black bathing suit with gold painted nails wearing her baby's rolex smoking her baby's gold tipped cigarettes smelling like dark cognac Dark cognac from a wide shallow glass, Vintage ***** 20's **** here in the middle of the middle of the night, offering her baby a warm lavender bath, warm silk sheets and torso. Maybe he'll give her that bag of money. She'll sit in front of the stock exchange building and buy a better life.

The infinitely large and deep eyes Against mysterious and elegant black skin Unite our dark and romantic heaven The beautiful are difficult to obtain beneath these skies As if in another world to win We live hidden past the shadows and around eleven Peaceful night chaos reject the sunrise In search of wondrous dreams from angelic twins Leaving this whole world make believe Fly by the clouds drawn by black horses In simple black dresses With long black tresses Where there is no light Just ivory black Figure pottery black And chinese ink sticks black

Do you remember when your face changed? When you became beautiful or not What fun it is to judge you How funny you think we care So what, my collarbone is crooked If I didn't have any flaws I'd be perfect So baby I'm sorry I kissed another boy But honey I just needed to be loved I stirred my blood into your coffee And you could never live without my love, If you're ready to quit this place, meet me across state lines I got a suitcase full of money and wine We can start living glamorous We can live a little purple Throw a little glitter Drink a little liquor And dance.

I’m having a daydream relapse of colors that don’t exist, inter-dimensional crushes and sleeping with Picasso. I’m having a daydream relapse of bankrupting the king, champagne showers and headless beauty queens. I’m having a daydream relapse of running out of love spells, made up anniversaries and Egyptians that don’t look like Cleopatra. I’m having a daydream relapse of laying naked with vintage villains and stirring flakes of gold into my melanin. I'm having a daydream relapse of running through the streets at night and feeling pity for people not living like us.

We sat there for three days, spoke of nothing just watched the flowers die. We put them outside, in the sun and clean air, we gave it water, as much as it could drink. And yet these roses chose a different path. Sick of our presence. They wilted They refused the water, the air. Punished us by refusing to continue on here among us. All they really needed was a black flower *** with a gold interior and flakes of glitter in the soil.

Baby, don't you remember we love instant coffee? Last summer, we explored the back roads of Texas They were so dark and dry Texas with its wild goats and red clay dirt Its taxidermy and wind mills Its faded billboard signs advertising Boiled peanuts, adult cabarets or something else random We spent all our money on gas and sugar The stars never looked so big Your face never looked more like heaven We thought the world of each other Last summer. Before the seasons changed the color of the leaves Before we were forced to wear long pants and closed toe shoes Before the cold air forced us to hide in our apartments The landlord told me to lock my door Strange things went on in that place at night All they took were the broken hearts I kept in my big book of love I hid in the closet I had no time to get away Last summer. When the morning sun shined through curtains in vain And we laid in bed all day Telling each other our dreams I taught you how to be romantic You taught me how to be brave. I told people to keep in touch. Last summer. They never do as I say
