American I'm Deshanda. I love writing and music.I play varsity volleyball. I love my friends and family, but i only can tolerate so much drama. I fall in love fast and hard. My life has taken me through a lot, but it's all for a reason and it has made me stronger. I write because I feel that I am apart of history, not only my history, but the history of my world, my people. Well that's just one percent of me. :)
Pain. What do you know about pain? Pain is so much more than a four letter word. Pain is watching someone you love being Torn away from you slowly. Pain is the regret you feel when you know This isn't what you've asked for. Pain is feeling a deep crevice form in your heart, Knowing you will never be able to repair it. Pain is trying to let go of what you want, So you can let them do what they need. Pain is when you cannot cry another tear, But you feel the burn in your eyes. Pain is wanting something that you cannot have, But you want anyway. Pain is feeling your heart stop beating, yet you live. Pain is an ache that never leaves... Pain has no peak. It never stops. But We take the pain, because we Believe in love.

Aching
I don't know how this came to me... Haha. I like it though. :P *I pace the one corner that hasn't been ripped to shreds Wondering if this love is alive or dead They way you said those last words to me Left me speechless and lonely Where are you? Where could you be? Is this really the end of you and me? I dream that one day you will pop back into my life And we could start over, without all the strife So if you are reading this letter of regret I hope this will be an act you won't forget.*

Worrier
We as people should try our hardest to be our best. Our generation is fading... We are stuck on stupid. Not to be offensive , but yes, we are. We are surrounded by things that eat at our knowledge like vultures on a carcass. Tweeting, Facebooking, Myspacing, and IMing. I admit it, I am a victim of this social crime, but I am beginning to realize that  we are not using our brains like those before us had to. What happened to reading and writing?  Why do we think we can just do everything on our Iphones now?  I know we are now becoming a technological era, but do we really have to do EVERYTHING this way? Ok. On to the next rant. Why is it okay for everyone to speak like they have not had any home training? Excuse me, some haven't but, you could at least try to improve yourself. I don't think I'm better than anyone because I have a better vocabulary or even because I was raised to speak with correct grammar and enunciate my words. I do admit I don't speak "proper" all the time; I joke around, but that's the keyword: "joke"  I don't care about the idiots that say "Oh, she's 'trying to be white'  "  I am content with that, even though I'm not trying to be anything but myself. I am content with them saying that because at least I will have an opportunity to do something with my vocabulary and my way of speaking. Maybe some people should try it. Hmm.. What else? *Oh! Boy don't let me forget about the "hood" life thing. Okay, "little gangster" , is your "mob" going to help you get a job?  Believe me, writing "crip gang" on your job application is NOT going to help you. Those people do not care what hood you are repping when you come in for an interview. They barely care about your name... Get with the program people!! Also, ladies, it is not cute to try to be in a gang or even trying to do "hood" things... LIVE OUTSIDE OF YOUR STEREOTYPE!  My black people... some of you, about 59%, are making those stereotypes stick.  I am sooo tired of seeing black people gang banging, fighting, killing each other, skipping class, smoking, drinking, getting pregnant, and etc.  Come on guys, we are a great nation of people.. We should improve, not get worse. We are already a minority. Our people DIED to get us where we are today. Take advantage of what we have.. Education, rights, freedom(somewhat), and opportunity. Don't blame the whites or Mexicans because you can't get off YOUR *** to do YOUR job. Please...*

This poem, well more like a free write, was inspired by the song Amazing by Bruno Mars Oh & this is a true story.Enjoy. :) I hear the words as I drive in my car. My thoughts take over my body as I feel the sting begin in my eyes and my face gets red hot. I start thinking about my life and those lyrics. When was I going find someone to tell me that I'm amazing? When was I going to find someone to tell me that I'm beautiful JUST the way I am? That they would never change anything about me because I am the epitome of perfect in their eyes. As I pull into my driveway, I turn off the car and cry softly. The silence made my sniffles sound deafening. I couldn't hear myself breathe, I thought I stopped. I took my time, thinking about my past, present, and future. I've been so stuck on finding the "one" that I haven't found myself. I immediately stopped crying because I realized I have found someone to tell me all of those things, and she was staring at me in the rear view mirror. ME.

Amazing
I cry for health. I dream for luck. I pray for life. I fight for love. I wonder. I wait. I watch. I wish. I don't give in. I don't give up. I don't let go. I don't let die.

Untitled
The line far from sparse. The room humid and hot. Gazing around the small space one would hear and see patience wearing thin like cracks in the earth waiting on the volcano to erupt. Tapping of the feet.   Shifting of the legs. Sighs fill the stale air while arms fold and unfold. Whines of impatient children drum against angry ears. Elders gripe and groan about aching bones. Teens grin for the flash of the camera, praying the first picture will come out right. Coming to this place will make anyone learn patience. Welcome to the DMV.

Drive More Vigorously
Being who you are even when no one is looking. Even when you are down, you can lift others. Always willing to help someone when they need you. Using your abilities to make a difference somehow. Taking the time to realize the important things in life. In hard times, you keep your head held high. Finding yourself in this lost world. Using the words "I love you" for more than just words. Living life like every day is your last. Being beautiful is more than looks. It’s a way of life. <3

Beautiful
In the mirror, an image Of the girl I use to be; her eyes wide and bright skin radiant her smile could light even the coldest hearts. She is now an image frozen in time. Waiting to burst through the hollow shell she now sits in, waiting. Waiting for something to release her; until then she is nothing but a reflection of what use to be.
