I remember when
We weren't stuck in between things
Why has it all changed?

#1 - Coming Home
You can see the smile of his tiny face already
Before the door has been pushed to;
Feel its cooling warmth.
His ears are up, silken with chocolate velvet
Dependable amber lamps beam at you
Lit delicately
Eitherside a perfect, blackened nose.
#2 - Back From a Walk
Garbed in the dirt of the arduous chore
Head to paw
Contemptuous smudgy cartouches;
A sickening brown on the cold floor
The chore continues, it unravels
He remains a flaky, filthy burden.

Weighty! The above balances on my eyelids
They are held shut with tight fingers,
But soon they flicker
Dilate and are prised open to the whiteness
Shapes dance atop on it and spin
Induce such sickness
But they do not go; they hang over the
Desecration beneath, what remains after
The indulgence
I need an ocean to arrive here

The past is the mirror to my soul;
I hold it,
Arms outstretched,
As a gorgeous, timeless orb before me
A spherical chromatic expanse.
The shadow ahead deceives me;
Sporadic pupilled photosenes -
Dim pinpricks in a fuzzy density –
Are all I am allowed to see
All that is revealed to me
As my tender heels crunch closer
Crunch closer on the Mason’s brittle way
His biscuitted remains.
I can now taste the dry crisping
Of the orange and brown
Gnarled, bare fingers stroke my passing being
This delicate vessel, afraid of the coming frost
The way immerges
And the orb illuminates the greyscale before me.

In the dim, I fumble for a spark
A fleck, a flame
But there is no light as luminous
Not here
Fondly, I relive the glower of orange
The flash of gorgeous, burning whites
The balminess as I am against it
If only you could see my smile in the dull of this haze
As I warm myself with these thoughts
Distant is your bellicose light
The light I left burning
