74/M I love music and taking part in writing poetry. I like to read poems from other poets just as much as writing.
There used to be an angel who was very close to me, this Angel was a guiding light wherever I would be. Sometimes I made some big mistakes, I walked the forbidden lane, this Angel had a certain way to bring me back again. This Angel was always with me every night and every day, this Angel always helped me see just where I went astray. Sometimes I didn't like it, the truth it often hurt, but when I ignored this Angel it made the matter worse. I really loved this Angel, we'd been together for many years. We never always did agree and often there were tears. But angels are for a reason, that is something I have found, now this Angel is no longer with me I'm so sad she's not around.

Angel by my Side
I hope to awake on an open field Where children play on swings, Watching people walk their dogs, And all those kind of things. I hope to see yellow daffodils In their thousands all in line, Followed along with bluebells, A blue sky and sun that shines. I hope to see those people The ones I used to know, Instead of sadness in their eyes Now is a smile that always glows. I hope to see those animals, Cows, pigs and sheep Grazing together without any fear Knowing they're not food to eat. I hope to see a different world A world that we've never seen One with peace and harmony The way it should have been. I hope to awake on an open field And I hope that day will be With all those lovely people, And my true love waiting for me.

Field of Yellow Daffodils
First it's the knees that let us down, then it's our back and arms. Next we lose our balance and we struggle to move along. We worry about all kinds of things, paranoia is no ones friend. Problems increase and multiply, they just never seem to end. Now our teeth start to crumble, no longer the grinding mill. We visit the dentist often, as we have certain teeth to fill. Our taste buds start to fail us and we struggle with our sight. We would love to go out in the evening but we get scared when it's dark at night. Do you remember when we were younger, when we were in our youth? We really were so happy, our photos are living proof. But now we are much older, our youth is left in the past. Those days we still remember, oh if only those days would last.

Remembering the days of our youth.
I love my little coffee cup Its just my kind of thing It is only just a Coffee cup But oh what joy it Brings. I wake up in the morning The coffee cup is there Just me and my cup of  coffee A calming love affair. It's just the  way to start the day And then it's off to work The hustle and the bustle When  working in the the dirt. And then I have my sandwiches Along with mugs of tea That's the way it's always been In the building industry. We work so hard throughout the day It's the way we builders are And when it comes to Friday night We are propping up the Bar. But I love my little coffee cup Its just my kind of thing It is only just a coffee cup But oh what joy it brings

My lovely little Coffee cup.
Our world it is so beautiful You can see it in the trees But just like a lovely garden We need to remove those weeds. We know there are many rivers Along with flowing streams But with all of earths pollution It's a nightmare instead of a dream. And there is the animal kingdom With creatures of every kind But the way we treat our animals It's disturbing to the mind. What about the Human race We  only have one mother earth We all should join together For we all are of equal worth. So just like that beautiful garden And when all those weeds have gone This world will be a perfect place For everyone to live on.

Our wonderful Mother Earth.
Sitting on a park bench It was a lovely summer's day The sound of all those seagulls We were whiling the time Away. The garden looked so peaceful Everyone felt at ease Relaxing laughing talking Just a mile away from The sea. It's name is palace gardens And it dwells there in the park It has a display of wonderful things Like flowers and beautiful art, It has a war memorial Of soldiers who died in war And has a certain atmosphere One we've never felt before. Maybe there's a presance of angels It really feels seriel If you were here with us You would know just how we feel. But nice things don't last forever Soon it will be homeward bound We truly had a lovely time In the palace garden grounds.

The palace Garden grounds .
The closed Book Abandons words Speaks with lonely eyes Stores up thoughts Inside the mind. A private world inside. Thinking deep Mind mesmerized Ticking time Bomb Tick tock Tick tock Could go off at anytime The private world explodes. The closed Book Has been overlooked By passers bye. The story never told And was never heard.

I remember my favourite comedian He was crazy and acted daft When I was on the downside He would put an end to that. He had a funny way with words And could often tell a tale He always drawed attention His humour it never failed. He could have been a big name In a movie or on the stage And if he chose to be one I am sure he would make the grade. He never had to try hard He liked to play the clown No one found him annoying He was fun to have around. He was full of innuendos And he almost crossed the line But he never was affensive He wasn't that way inclined. Then that was many years ago Now he's gone and that is sad He was my favourite comedian I should know he was my Dad.

My favourite comedian.
My friend Harry put all his trust In all his words when he drank too much Now he is sober and wonders why He drank and drank the bottle dry. Foolish he was to drop his guard Forgetting it now is very hard He started off with just one taste He carried on and spoke in haste. But now he has learned his lesson well And this advice he wishes to tell Be care full my friends when you've had a few You just don't know who you are talking too.

Drinking with strangers
Here we are on this summer's day Nothing much to do The flowers they are on display Yellow white and blue. It's time to take things easy Our working days are done We get our pension weekly Now we are soaking up the sun. Now we are getting older But we are youthful in our minds The winter's now are colder They were warmer in our times. Our children they have fled the nest They have gone there various ways Although we see them less and less Sometimes they come and stay. Now we are never in a hurry We come and go as please And we have no reason to worry We just love the summer breeze. Now we count our blessings There's far to many to say And there are so many reasons To enjoy this summer's day
