I see your name in my phone
I scream so loud
The birds fly from their perch
They come back after I've finished
and they sing to me
they sing the same tune
That you'd hum repeatedly
they sing beautifully
and without complaint
I find myself listening
yearning for your touch
wishing for your silvery voice
the voice that the birds copy
far too often
When I hear their soft song
I am entranced into another world
a world with your dulcet sound
another world with you.

At the cafe downtown
I look into your delicate eyes
forming those frustrated storm clouds
that make you so irresistible
waiting, waiting. For the contact
where our shattered hearts collide
to form a whole heart
that's worth much more than a smile
more than our eyes locking
and to far from a friendly "good morning"
everyday
at the cafe downtown.

I looked at her and smiled.
"You were once in love with me," I said
she responded
"I was once in love"
and that small change
broke my heart
she would never be mine
again

I was in love with her body
she lived inside of my mind
and when she said my name
flowers blossomed within me
I was in love with her soul
her way of speaking
and her natural way of charming
everything that crossed her path.

The story of you
Sitting there with you
An alternative reality
Your long hair blowing in the wind
Even the trees and birds are silent
Everyone waiting for something
That will never come
So we all just sit there
Mesmerized by your beauty.
