He's fading again Pulling back into that quiet dark that never really left him. I thought the light had stayed this time. I thought he had found the warmth that wouldn't flicker. But the shadow knows his shape too well. It slips around him like an old coat, familiar, heavy, a comfort he can't refuse. I reach for him, but my hands pass through smoke. He's already somewhere else, somewhere I can't follow
