The Present. Thoughts flow through my mind on rails, forwards or backwards? The smallest nudge sends a "what if?" flying into the unknown future, forwards or backwards? A fleeting sensation slides my mind back to a curtain-drawn past, forwards or backwards? Calling me back is the present, not thinking in days & weeks, or forwards & backwards, just in tiny temporal timeslots, The Present.

"What's asking to come back to you?"
Humans find life in the lifeless, it is a subconscious act. So when the coffee machine doesn't work well (despite all available facts), I give her an incredulous look, head-cocked, raised brow, expecting her to look back. Then after some time (and no reason why), she works! What's more human than that?

The Coffee Machine
I want to see our Souls in a thousand lives. How does your soul flow in the dark nights of the long past? How does your soft smile look in the lights of a future not yet here? In a world of strife and rebellion, in a land of peace and abundance. Where I am rock, and you are water, and where we are the same twisted knot of hate and love. I think my heart will ache the same, every time we start this game.

Our Souls in a Thousand Lives
Sun on morning skin, up before the others. Three sets of breathing, asleep, so mine is quiet. My heart races, wanting to surprise them, show them I remember the little things. One decaf, one with milk, and one that's warm dark. Then a release of tension, to let them wake up to the gentle sounds of life, creating spontaneity, to give them a little spark to start. What brings out these deepest, warmest parts of myself is knowing that I am on three sets of minds.
