I was looking for you
all over the world
in knowledge
in love, in friendship
in home and identity
yet I found you not

In wisdom I searched too
but lost myself just more in books
My mind tried to find you
to find the truth
yet I couldn't apprehend it

I cooled and I
gave up the search
but still was pullsed
back, searching for you
-
I tried to find you
in experience
in ecstasy - to feel you
yet all was like smoke
nothing remained of you
-
Finally I
truly submitted
ready to give up all
to receive your mercy
For only you can heal me

So now I wait
having faith
no more seeking
finally home

Lord heal me
from the sickness of sin
from the blindness
that keeps me imprisoned

Lord Jesus Christ
have mercy on me
show me the way
to your kingdom!

divine healer
only you

I've put my trust in many things
yet none would satisfy
naked and poor - in spirit
I kneel before you

How many times have I
lusted after people?
Treating them as objects
though I’ve wished to love them

Lord forgive me
the way that I considered them
no regard for their true self
only for outer form
-
How insidious is
the view of lust
where love divine
and greedy desire meet!

Oh Lord may others
beware the pit
of lust
mistaken for love!

I’d thought that it
was love I had
so lost was I
in my ways
-
How lost I was
yet now I see
I see and I
repent
-
Lord forgive me
have mercy upon me and
set me free!

O Lord thank you
for showing the way
so lost was I
in evil thoughts

Seeing others
as objects of my pleasure
thinking I loved them
yet I only lusted
-
The world didn’t show me
the way of truth
kept me thinking
that desire is love
-
But what is love
when it’s only clinging
when all people
are just objects for me
-
What is love
without freedom to give
apart from desire
to possess?

lost in the world
lead me to green pastures
to drink the living water

Your voice shall I follow
at all times
stopping to listen out for you
