The box in the attic unfolds a story of
old memories from a kinder time
And a tear falls down the man's cheek

Every step forward,
Uncovers my soul.
Little by little
The shell corrodes.
Beams of light
Shining through the cracks
Into my non-adjusted eyes.
While I wait for them to adjust,
I prepare myself to feel the warmth
Of love
After so long
Without it.
Every minute
It gets harder to stay in the darkness
So I go
To the warm shining light.

One boring day in the seventh grade,
Trees seemed more interesting than the English lecture when a sudden paperclip hooked my pupils, like an expert fisherman.
I was twisting, bending, and contorting the paperclip's shape into different things when
It was time to test its conductivity in an outlet.
I slowly put one end of the clip into one slot of the outlet…
Nothing.
The second paperclip under the table was like bait at the top of the water.
Upon attaching the metal, I stuck one end in the outlet and the other end in the outle-SHZSHZSHZ POP.
The outlet was destroyed
Paperclip: disintegrated
My fingers: Charred black

Surrounded by fake friends that won't stick around
As opposed to being in the spotlight all by myself
Reflecting upon small moments in my day
Could it be because my happiness depends on others?
Maybe…
Or possibly I just can’t live without them
Whatever the reason may be.....
I find that I am happy that you listen to me

Sometimes I just want to hit my feelings with sticks.
That’s just how it’s been since the crucible of our connection.
You made your funny little jokes and everyone loved them, but no one knew how it felt to be on the other side.
If only you would let me spread my wings and take off.
If only.

Summers ago,
On a dark July night
The expansive field was lit by the soft glow of explosions
In the night sky.
One boy whom decided he didn’t see enough of the glow,
Ran out far away into the field,
But he didn’t see
The misfired shot into the blazing grass far away
When he realized a whistling winding whirling missile was before him,
It was too late.
In that millisecond that felt like hours, colors, sparkles, and ashes
Were all around
And when it ended
All he wanted
Was to see it again.

The golden rays of light penetrate the space between the leaves
On a nice cool autumn evening
As the students walk the courtyard
The boy waits for the her with flowers in his hand, his fingers twitching, toes tapping, waiting anxiously for this beauty to open her door
The man throws a disc to his fluffy companion whom charges to catch it with all his might in the open field of the park
The setting sun outlines the city in a bright orange glow as all the noises dim down to leave only a soft subtle calmness

My life is like a box of chocolates
Being eaten up by different events, different illnesses, different... people
While their wrappers keep them nice and tidy and clean
My wrapper is gone, long torn away by hungry heathens
The only flavor left in the box is the flavor no one wanted
The flavor no one likes

Fallen Soldiers
Rejoice
For you have a savior.
A rusty hatchet in that shack you used for cover.
There are many outcomes of its use.
Slam the enemy with tetanus, Chop the enemy into chunks, or surprise them with a flying orange hatchet of doom.
O'l reliable gets the job done.
O'l rusty hatchet.
