Behold the burning tree As flames ebb and flow 'tween you and me Hear the crackle of its bark As burning embers light the dark Barren, desolate, foul smelling earth A hungry dog of wretched birth Scours the land for food and water What rage and fury does it foster For Men of mice and Mice of men Who dwell deep beneath the glen Where great Abraxas, in deep slumber Would rise with rage and thunder And smite the tyrants in their castle With their maiden queen fair and gracile As men to dust shall return So must their creation, in turn And upon that land shall clouds bring Sweet liquor of life, harbinger of spring As muddy hue turn emerald green Hear the wind's melody, quiet, serene

Song of Abraxas
I see many a flower turn dull and grey And the children no longer play Instead weeping in anguish, they Seldom smile and no longer pray I see many men with their iron will On barren lands forced to till Trees of bad fruit with little yield For a worm of a man with a rotten deal I see mothers weeping along a stream For babes unborn lost in a dream And weep as they may to the golden sun Unanswered their prayers they gather and run I see the earth set ablaze by tyrannical men With murderous intent, conducted from their den And the fires burn pale and bright As we relinquish life to the eternal night

The Eye
Faith, have ye none? When hell beckons thine name Wilt thou be that faithful son? Or wilt thou cower in shame? Hark ye devils, and make no protest! For the hour has come for ye to die And let thy heart confess March along into that fire, aye! For He who Judges all hath come Serve His will and have no fear For the closing hour draws near Hear Satan's beating red drum Steel thy courage well And let the blood make thy heart swell With blood and steel shall we pay All the sins and follies of our days

The Apocalypse
How would it be As a swallow upon a tree Singing his birdsong For you and me He shan't wait for long As he's finished his song Watch him sail the blue Not a care if he's wrong Where will he be? Who will he meet ? Flapping his wings he Stopped On a street A child chases And it's off to the races Back in that blue high Where children seldom cry In the rain or in the sun Does the swallow have his fun And come night he ventures forth As the blue he calls home had gone swarth

Birdsong
If I should pray, God grant me this One more day, and one more kiss In younger days, brave and wild Took you days to tame that child And when you did and he did smell That lilac smell he knew too well Once older you thought him courage Love given and talent nourished A prayer sayeth, a blessing given How are you doing up in heaven ? If I should pray, God grant me this One more day, and one more kiss On better days well gone past Once thought we were to last Who's to say who's to blame All left is memory and shame Etched in my heart's core forever Your name that echoes in that chamber Your silken touch, your sun-bright smile How pretty you'd look on that aisle If I should pray, God grant me this One more day, and one more kiss

To The Women I've Lost
The rain brought with it old memories Of sunny days and sweet reveries On our future and what it holds On what our children would look like, we'll never know What lies we've told, what truth we've buried As to our parting I can say that it was hurried And the pain that lingers and gnashes the soul How young we were, too brash and bold The drumming of waters hitting the ground The smell of the earth and the sweet serenading sound Takes my being to a place no more found But in that place shall I seek A moments respite when days are bleak

Lines Composed On A Rainy Day
Upon my eyes befell a flower dressed in black, Striking in beauty, noble in act She moved in calm and vigor, Between lost men, drunk with ichor Her gorgon stare reduced me to stone and there I stood, bare as bone A word I spoke, but no more As I crumbled into dust, swept on the floor With her voice, accompanied a choir Sang by angels with their lyre Serenading sweet harmonies for men to hear as she struck my heart with a burning spear Her smile took life out of my lungs My love proclaimed, if not twisted mine tongue In silence i sat, boiling with wonder How can a man tame that Delicate Flower

Lines for A Delicate Flower
Beauty fades The amber cage Falls down to meet your gaze Temptation took what eternity gave Your forsworn smile Judgement in the aisle To walk this cursed mile Angel's singing all the while From Light begot The Fading Sun Hallowed eyes weep in doubt As we gather round to be undone

Lines 1
A specter invades a nightly retreat, to a land of lost wants and thoughts incomplete. Upon barren soil i stand, bewildered at the sight of a pale apparition shining bright, and bold she stood Towering against the ocean dark sky. Her eyes beamed upon my soul Inquiring on days of old Of when her hands i held, her Lips i felt, and soul i explored. Her voice trickled down to my ears Questioning decisions made o’er the years. The siren’s song closed with a gong Asking if I'm happy to be where i belong To her i say “tis’ futile to lie For you’ve seen the truth, in the depths of my eye Why ponder upon a question, if the answer is known? Tis’ not fair to torment a soul, foul as it is, With questions such as those. But here i present, for your ears to hear, The sorrow of loss of a lover once held dear.” On her ears befell my woes and fears An empty vessel drowning in tears My words came to a stop, and from her a faint smile She gathered her thoughts then whispered, “sweet child, Remember not what we had, nor what we could have been. Seek instead for a fire within, for i see your ember fading, Your mind waning, and your soul wandering. I pray the Sun grant you strength to bear A world lost to ambition and despair.” Her Revelations Ceased, The Specter fades into the evanescent blue. No more real than memory, yet eternally true. A Fire grew to the west, on the lush green grass of the Prairie, A glimmer darted into the Moon’s domain, In rebellion against the night’s tyranny.
