For monsters are just graves that learned
to walk,
Hearts strangled by grief's hand,
Humanity bled dry,
And from their endless suffering,
Comes misery for the world that birthed them.

Staring into the abyss,
was she,
and the abyss stared back.
When it spoke,
notions of heroes and villains fell away.
Reality was not what we made it,
but what it had always been.

Reach for depth in shallow pools,
Curse the sea that swallows your head.
Lines in sand,
Taken by the waves.
Borders in granite,
Tread underfoot.
Beg for truth,
Take a lie.
Things abandoned,
Rot where placed.

Linger too long on shores that aren’t ours.
Blinded by their seas,
The desert becomes our home.
If we stand here long enough,
We’ll forget that we bleed.

Polished his crown with my torn dress.
Kiss knuckles that bled
Shut doors to muffle screams
Violence doesn't soften in silence

One from the heart,
two for the grave.
No ripple felt in grieving seas.
Sink without breath.
Light bleeds darkness,
till glimmers stir in the abyss.
Watch from the bottom,
here we remain,
till the monsters’ grip becomes our own.
No souls left to save.

Don’t wish too hard on fallen light.
When darkness splits for moments,
we assume wonder.
But life burns brightest at the end
warmth we cherish is fate’s door sealed.
What’s blessed by a curse
cannot be held.

Let’s dance where we don’t belong,
melt the nightlight with words
we shouldn’t share.
In a place where no one is welcome
no one shunned
we all think we aren’t wanted here.
So let go of the fear.
A place where no one belongs
can be our saving ground.

Sing me the song I asked for,
and I’ll demand another.
When wanting turns to depth,
No shallow pleasure can quench.
Stand too close and miss the splash,
watch through glass till time slips past.
Beneath the surface,
the songs are loudest
that’s where monsters play.
Ships turn to keys,
and we all sail away.

I spoke into the void
and hoped it answered back.
But the trees have ears
and the webs have eyes.
The voice that echoed sang too sweet
so I poured bitterness into its veins
till it spoke of something closer to the truth.
When footsteps get too far
it calls again,
a baited hook,
line already tight.
But what they collect is soulless
so let them have it
while I answer eternity with more than a stutter.
