Crinkling leaves fall onto Its face
Withering just like the trees
Life is dead and unheard in the
Upside-down.
Silvery slivers of shining moonlight
Call out to none. To no other.
The shine glorifies the scattered bones.
It strides. It wanders, searching. It does not know.
"Ŵháŧ aṛə wĕ... §ęeīng, Caecilius?"
Its pale body feverishly stumbles.
Crashes, crumbles. Slumps.
Its neck cranes around and around
and It sees the world
Upside-down.
Crinkling leaves fall onto Its face
They collect, gravity pressing downwards
Droplets freeze on Its face
Leaves stick to the pale, clammy skin
The leaves are dead, and so are the trees, and so is It.
These eyes turned the world upside-down.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She smiles when she sees me and
her loving eyes look up
A soft gaze shot through her
dark, scarred pupils
She cherishes my hand tightly
my palm turns red
But I know, Oh I know
her hand is bleeding.
I know this secret song you sing
this dissonant melody
drowned out by your hollow laughter
And the warmth you emit
is a loving embrace
as your fingers twirl with my hair
But I know, Oh I know
your hand is bleeding.

Machinery rumbles a low buzz.
Clank! Clock! Click!
Gears a-turnin', metal a-churnin'.
Rusted bolts and screws ain't slick.
The press imprints the disc.
Clank! Click! Clock!
Each hit feels like an earthquake.
Crushing rock against rock.
Steam arising into the clouds.
Click! Clock! Clank!
Grumbles along through its work.
Boilin' and bubblin' like a gas tank.
...And, like a lightning bolt, It struck the machine's clockwork. Each spring sprung, each gear misaligned, and each chain fell loose...
Input, 'pon input, 'pon input.
Click! Clank! Clock!
Conveyors storm their packages along.
What caused me such mechanical shock?
Clockwise turns 'round the center.
Clock! Click! Clank!
Gears stop and bolt backwards.
When did my internal system shake?
Hydraulic power fails to press.
Clock! Clank! Click!
Fails to budge the metal inside.
Why is my machine sick?

Yellow butterflies burst from my stomach
and brought us to this green pasture
where birds don't dare to delve.
Just us and the Butterflies.
Just the Butterflies and us.
You frame my thoughts and show me that
a shift of perspective was needed
to carry me away to my dreams.
Just us and our Dreams.
Just our Dreams and us.
Yellow fades, orange arrives, fades to blue; till
black envelopes us, still stars take a peek
and complement our luminosity.
Just us and the Night.
Just the Night and us.
You gaze into that twinkling black sky with me
and I wonder of this dreamscape created
by the two of us on a sleepless night.
Just Us.

Do you see what I see?
Look up to the sky
see the comets race across
as they leave a firey trail
sprinkling their starry sparkles
Do you see what I see?
Look up to the void
see its unaltering darkness
as the cold consumes each star
leading to the complete finality

The final star darkens, dims
Fades to a conclusive black
This great finality so ghastly, grim
The Void consumes its last
Bone-chilling, blood-freezing
Heat extracted and dispersed
Slowly, slowly depleting
Theoretical winters immersed
Each world secedes their spin
As motionlessness begins to mend
Their only broken option
And brings about an unmoving end
Time ticks on and on and on
Each second is a minute passed
Unbreakable and infinite bond
For an incomprehensible mass
Earth completes its revolutions
Each year another step closer
To the ridding of our delusion
That night It will meet Its other

Why, why, why?
Do I seek this absent pattern
of love, and love, and love?
Hate, and death, and sin
seem to rain from heaven above
Why, why, why?
Do I question this reality
inescapable, and abandoned, and derailed?
Love, and love, and love
is what I should have surveilled
Why, why, why?
Is there something, rather than nothing
this riddling, devouring, accidental presence?
No! No! No! Of course not, child...
It's a presence of love, and love, and love!

Murky water. Oh, murky water.
You show what's truly within.
Opening up each heart and mind,
to thee who searches under the skin.
Murky water. Oh, murky water.
Not pure, but crystal clear.
Revealing the darkest, murkiest parts;
depths the holder fears.
Murky water. Oh, murky water.
The onlooker desperately searches;
yet they'll only discover what they seek,
by cleverly navigating my murky eyes.
Past the fog, behind the mask,
far beyond what I might see.
There they'll find the truths they seek,
deep beyond any dark sea.
Past these murky waters.

Down! Down! Down!
drops the ship's rusty anchor
sent straight through the sea
Down, down... down.
falls the foreign iron anchor
not gracefully, nor swimmingly
Down... down... down...
sinks the true, unwavering anchor
pulling its vessel down with thee

Heavy eyes, drooping down
Rub, rub, rub. Wake up, up, up
Lift your head, my tired friend
Collapse into these heavy sheets
Sink down, down, down
Sleep, tempting my exhausted mind
Stare into an unchanging ceiling
Hit, hit, hit. Fall asleep, sleep, sleep
Yet my mind won't do as I plead
