On the fifth Sunday in December in the leap of leap years,
in the end of seven cycles of Sabbatical years,
harvests of highborn maidens descend
the spiral staircase of the Waldorf
in a procession of shifting opalescence.
White gloved hands glide down the bronze ballustades
mirored right and left, mimicing the demiurge of DNA
codons sequencing blonde, brunette, redhead,
in endless permutation, devination, transfiguration,
parading the paradigm of life in designer gowns.
　
A humongous table set in an altared state of churrascaria,
choice charcuterie of grilled ewe, ram, calf and ox lay
in neat compartiments, the turtle-doves pigeonholed,
croissants and challah rolls bowered in multigrain baguettes.
At center sits a bottomless pomegranate-shaped punch bowl, laced with 'X'.
"Music Maestro!"
Sorry, I mean, "Yo DJ...Spin That Wheel."
The tambourine man tabers, the flautist blows his fipple and the drummer beats his breast à la Johnny Weissmuller.
Between the habanera and the seguidilla the ballroom fills
with the whirling tails of dust devils,
swallowing the hit-and-run swans, the metro-faygeleh Swann's, and circumcized shvantzes in their dancing vortex
'Who turned off the air-con?' asks a nescient nebbish, fingering his Oxford collar whilst lifting the brim of his trilby.
First a debutante, well known for her spontaneity, spontaneously combusts.
Then another, and another, and another -- alligned like flaming henges pointing to the sun.
Moloch lights a Havana...
Hmmm, the Navels and Valencias
were very sweet this year.

The scarlet hour fades:
We pack up party dresses
And untangle pearls
Before shedding our ballroom skin.
The gauzy layers fall away
As we creep from smoke and musk
Back into softly-focused youth.
We keep the lights on,
Whisper giggles; our voices dim
Because the air is violet now,
The shadows innocent and smooth.
We’ll turn on taps and clamber in
While the water’s warm, steam rising,
Knees around chins; foam around cheeks,
You splash my chest I wet your hair
We scrub our faces naked:
Pink and young and perfect here
Because the night is lilac now
And shadows continue to fade
Under dormitory lights before dawn.

want to hear your
heart speak?

I wouldn't know, so don't ask.
But they ask anyway,
"What should I do about
this one, who I like, I love
screwed up; said something wrong
fix it, please!?"
My responses are words of studied wisdom,
  but inside I'm thinking:
  "HOW WOULD I KNOW?"

Grew up in the Bible belt,
where some were heart felt,
but mostly a rare species.
But my heart is no better than anyone else's
but it isn't hard to see their heart
when they are judging me.

"So, are you dating?" - No

Then there must be something wrong with me, right?
Talked to me, looked me in the eyes
attempting to see the soul,
then eyes wondered down, and around; all over me.
Judgement of Physical Appearance Mental Analysis Result:
"Hmmm, a bit thick around the middle, pale, glasses,
thick brows, small mouth, deeper voice ..... I think I see."

Oh sweet, dear, pubescent me.
  
Now you may be thinking,
"Great,
another fat girl
talkin' 'bout how
she ain't gettin any."

NOOO!!!

Don't you pull me down to your level!
I don't fight like that!
In fact I don't fight.

Not with words from trash bins
or knuckles bloody beat.
I push, push people to look
inside themselves and see the source
of the stench that is reeking off them.
I make them, break them down
just like I would myself.
I am my harshest critic so
I know what it is like not to be loved.
But I have grown on myself and learned I have been made to be kinda cool
and I have learned to love who I am
because I, my, me, is a nation,
and without support of each part, it would fall
like the Romans,
inside because of out.

In the morning the mist arises
but some will say it is
yesterday's hubris.
I dont have an attic
to wayleigh communications
or require windows
to twitch gingham curtains
so the deep chill
void remains.

A debutante passed by my uncut grass
but she was no better served,
a dream interview with Playboy Club
turned sour, this time of year.
At least she hasn't endless dealership openings
or humoured the word "exhilarating" in interviews
when inventing a rich Stepfather.
Like me there be few visitors.
Thirty  stubborn years will pass
but at least she know the meaning.
The pride of the morning.

A child without water,
a rich man drinks his coffee.

A father unable to provide,
a rich kid gets a new car.

A mother lies awake, body ravaged by AIDS,
while the Hollywood hills expose their costly ills.

The dream of equality is nowhere to be found
while the lives of the many are repressed and pushed down.

Executives and suits lived gluttonous youths
while a father works to death to fill his children’s mouths.

There is a solution to this problem of society,
one which the telethon celebs won’t give up quietly.

It doesn’t involve guilt-trips on TV.
It doesn’t need attention constantly.

Socialites shouldn’t seek their own satisfaction
if the only result is our continued inaction.

What is really necessary, what really needs doing,
is to get out there and get ourselves moving.

It’s the work of us commoners
that will fill up the bellies.

It’s the donation of the middle class
that will educate young ladies.

The revolution of giving needs to be started
or else who will care when our own lives grow stunted?

The world all together relies on us all
to give out our hand and make our brothers stand tall.

It’s these simple acts which will strengthen the pillars
of mutual respect for our society’s sisters.

So don’t wait any longer for a celeb to rise up.
It’s these people below them who’ll fill up the cup.

No debutante or heir can fill every belly
by thinking of their pride and unearned glory.

Never before has it felt so right
to be the common man, helping a peer in his plight.
