Something Simple Oct 2014
Her heart pounds, a thunder in he veins
Pulsing bright and red and deep within
Courage took farflung flight long ago
Before the journey was to be made

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

There was silence before this, quiet as a grave
And the streets were filled with happy feet
It slept alone then, on all it found to keep
No overlap or closeness to be feared.

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

And then life wasn't what she'd been promised
He threated a hell on earth should she think even of what she knew
Blows came when the words stopped coming
Maybe there wasn't anything in the big white clouds up there

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

So she left alone, running away from it all
Nowhere to go and none to care what happened out there
Feet chased a path along a clif's side
Found another path hidden inside

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

Came upon the sleeping one
Belly deep in shining rings, golden plates, precious stones
All of the leavings of those that had gone before
It earned them all fairly

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

Surely they wouldn't notice just one cup?
One cup for freedom, one cup for a new life
One for the time she spent running from no escape
So she took it and fled

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

A stirring spread thourgh that scaly pile
Orange orbs snapping open, knowing something was gone
That cup the mother'd drank from at the king's court
When magic was still thick and the world thought less of monsters

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

Wings unfirled and death came that night on quiet wings
Fire broke the night, people died, fleeing anyway they could
Those earth riches where all that's left
Before men came and took what they thought they owned

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

Day rose to a ruined place
Choacked grey black, shifting with winds
Villages left that day for the reasons where not known
But she knew and it did as well

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

Journey came with baited breath
She knew it would come again with hot breath and burning eyes
Maybe there would be nothing left again
Death would come again

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

Head raises, hissing scales of ash, long strong neck
Those eyes shine brighter now
Tips of wings touch staggered points of topside
Ready to reclaim a life

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

Quick and slow she bends, quicker hands holding out
Uncurling fingers flex apart and the cup is placed
Once more in its rightful place
Them or her, chosen to make right

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

Thin wings settle again to the strong sides
Ribs show their ridges against the jeweled belly
What's this human who would give back what it took?
Dangerous points part in black stone gums

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

You'd give thisss for them and what you ssstole?
Hissing air breath, a volcano's hiss
Wide eyes and hesitant hands reply
"Many more here that you don't deserve but they don't either."

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

Slow shifting seething motion
Tail like rope unwinding from the center
Weak legs bend and don't break
Eggshells lay safe in the last grey curl

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

Small bones, little skull and empty eyes
Young mother happy once then
Men broke the home with sharp points
Young mother no longer

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

She sees broken bones, human heads burned
Nothing could bring the hatchling back, piece the pierced back
It had stayed to die in silence no reason left
No food to be found, no water to drink

Feet crushed the ashes spilled
When they fell in a spiral across the village
They left the buildings empty since
Fire takes all

The girl leaves and goes
A secret to keep for the old mother
Until the body lies forgotten and the earth takes back
No one to touch the shining seas

A Statue of Ashes

December 27, 2014 at 9:24pm

I was once lost in a moment of time

She was right behind me

I've tired to tell them

Sometimes...

It's always the same

There were once whispers

Behind my shadow

And it's always the same

She was right behind me

I couldn't tell them

Sometimes...

There are whispers

Behind my shadows

She wanted this world

And it's riches of illusions

The kingdom of Sodoma

The kingdom of flesh

It's always the same

She was right behind me

I've tired to tell them

But it's all the same

Of whispers behind my shadow

Sometimes...

It's always the same

Sometimes...

There are whispers

Behined my shadows

Ashes remain without her

Ashes remain unseen of your beauty

So clear as fallen leaves

As crumbled ruins unknown

Past present and future

Ashes remain without beauty

There was once Ashes behind me

There was once ashes behind my hands

My hands had once held the ashes of her shadows

Past present and future

There were once whispers behind my hands

She became a statue of ashes

Yet It's always the same

Her shadow was once behind me

Yet she became ashes as white as snow

She was once behind me

And it's always the same

For all my broken promises

Have become unto ashes

lost in halls of broken mirrors

One is free to leave it's cage

One can leave this shadow

Yet, It's all that she can't leave behind

Of her crumbled stateus of ashes

I have not looked back

Yet, I can feel her ashes on my hands

What have you done?

What have you become?

She was once so dear to me

Before she became a statue of ashes behind me

Ashes.

Ashes fall.

Ashes fall far.

Ashes fall far away.

Ashes fall far away slowly.

Ashes fall far away slowly floating.

Ashes fall far away slowly floating down.

Ashes fall far away slowly floating.

Ashes fall far away slowly.

Ashes fall far.

Ashes fall.

Ashes...

"...from dust thou art..."

It was one peaceful evening we were having,
ruined by a message; distasteful and disturbing,
a misunderstanding? no, never had been..
.but it had always been the easy way out...
it was an overflow of misunderstood courage...
someone  shouldn't have had the face,
but really had the chutzpah to reach out...
one that stood up to the last moment
to gird, to break, to wreck.....and won...
to be...to feel they belong,
this, could be allowed no longer...
this must...has got to stop...

here comes the CLOAK of non-acceptance,
it quickly spreads overhead,
but repugnance PERFORATES!

to be duped anew,
ah, brings back to life old hatred,
for those who think they know better,
but never again, to swim in bad blood...
feelings to be repeatedly exploited,
this, can no longer be allowed....
this...has got to stop...

ashes that were hidden,
ashes that were forbidden,
ashes i didn't feel like seeing
an urn of ashes i firmly refused to hold,
ashes i firmly refused to be anywhere near me.
and now, they suddenly ask,
where to take the forsaken urn?
they can just pollute the river
let the ashes flow with the current...
or, be indifferently blown by the wind
atop a mountain...
for God's sake, why not just buy a vault for the urn?
give the ashes the much-needed peace it longed for..
and let those who were once denied and deprived,
have their own share of much needed peace...

ashes may be carried away
by the sea or the wind---
but there's only one known place:
to the ground we all go,
cremated or otherwise...
so, why fuss on where the ashes should go?

Ashes are left
Ashes and gin soaked pages
Ashes and shaking hands at breakfast
Ashes and bruised knuckles
Ashes and losing him
Ashes and the absence
Ashes and memories
Me hitting the floor vision clouded over with black
His hand on the back of my head lifting me out of shock and back into the world
His ashes and absence wears my mind thin
His arm draped around me, drunken stumble up the steps
His ashes and my flesh won't mix
His ashes and my heart won't mix
His ashes blow away in the wind every time

ashes, ashes we all fall down.
i’ve come to take back my crown.
ashes, ashes, you shall fall down.
i will destroy this town.
ashes fall with us.
can’t you feel the rush?
the ashes fall.
it’s time for your call.
ashes, ashes we will fall down.
ashes, ashes, no more ground.
falling into ashes.
we all have our gashes.
now I breath in.
the sky grows dim.
ashes, ashes, we all fall down.
a sort of dystopian poem i found in my old poems from a year ago. i only put my favorites on here, an d this made the list.

An angel in disguise
A hidden sickness
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust

Left alone to perish
A wingless angel lost her way
Fighting forever
Hope slowly fades away
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust

The emptiness took over
Consumed her soul
Lifeless eyes
Fading hair
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
Left broken and ******

This angel lost her way
Aimless circles , enclosing darkness
Nowhere to turn
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust

A razor covered in a ****** secret
Lies developed hidden scars
A fake smile
A broken heart
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust

A forgotten angel
Left behind
Lifeless eyes
Broken soul
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust.

how long must I walk in the ashes of my yesterday?
charred carbon butterflies dancing past my tired eyes
floating on what could be the last breaths of this tired world
nothing but a fleeting sigh, nothing but a fading whisper.
Ashes.

the endless long lost steps
the creaking weary bones
one foot in front of the other
I walk in Ashes.

I look to the jagged teeth where earth meets the sky
gnashing, grinding, grinning
a sickly cheshire smile far and wide
a newness, a nascence felt inside
the illusion is slowly fading
but yet I still walk in Ashes.

like sepulchral confetti
the blackened ash quietly collects
whispering and licking at my ears
a tragic choir in unison they sing
'one and one have become zero'
in silence I grieve beneath a jet black sky
on my broken knees
never ending Ashes.

will this ever end?
rust covered, abandoned
thoughts like swinging hammers
comforted only by Ashes
that sing me into nightmares
of dying stars and black suns
and nights that have killed the only Dawn I've ever known
will the Ashes ever end?

in all the desolation, in all the dereliction
there is calm, a soothing shudder scrapes my skin
a rising urgency deeply rooted beneath the I
sweetly swaddled
gently graced
blanketed by Ashes.

the roof of the world
sunken, failing - utter frailty
I am no telamon, I have no strength
unable to bear the weight
the weight of all the Ashes.

in this comforting collapse
at the bottom of my oubliette
wings of splintered light emerge
they glow like the light of dying cinders
they glow like your iridescent halo
they glow like the last light I will ever see.

I talked to the fire and the ashes
I brought last night upon the marshes;
they were burning and dusting
Passions and longing—
For they could not be as one
No matter how much they wanted to;

the fire kills,
The ashes bleed
All for themselves
Because they could not do it
On their own.

My fire hated wound and hated pain
Only if it is for the ashes and ashes alone
And also the grasses in the garden of the marshes.

Yes, fire is warming and calming to the core,
but is it for the ashes dropped to blown?

And for me, to make it clear:
The ashes were not ******* you get
After you allegedly burn a precious wood,
or a precious bone, of course.

The ashes were conjured
Of memories you could not recall—
Every single shards of wood
Every singe string of gloom
Incinerated only to light your way
To light your world.

Who said that ashes worth nothing in this colored world?
Who dare say that ashes could only humiliate?

Because for us
It is the most sincere form
Of memories sacrificed.

And if the stars are too far away
We might as well burn
And be the ashes down the ground—
Because for us
The ashes are the most sincere form
Of stars deep dark below.

Why would you grab a star too far
When i’m not
So far away from you?

Like the night and the shadow within
When the fire burns
Upon the old marshes of memories.

And so, the fire and the ashes that I brought upon
Simply whispered;

Don’t let the dream of the moon upstairs
Blind you to your heart
For the flickering stars above,
when you can simply burn rocks
Burn anything
to create your own stars.
Scatter the ashes
scatter the ashes
see the tears in my eyes
as I scatter the ashes

See the broken me
as I scatter the ashes
scatter the ashes
from the broken me

To feel this hurt
so deep within
so I scatter the ashes
and a part of me dies

So I scatter the ashes
scatter the ashes
and the tears I shed
are for the love of you

The sullen dark skies
lazily drift in the coming darkness
yet I scatter the ashes
for I am lost without you

Ashes to ashes
Dust to dust
Being your best friend
Is a must

Ashes to ashes
Waves on waves
The way that you speak
Must save lives

Ashes to ashes
Wind by wind
I never want us
Out of mind.
True love never dies.
Sit back. Relax. Take a breath. Take a minute. Take a hit. Take a drink. Take a sting. Take a shot. Take a line. Take a day. Take a time. Take a mental Picture. Take a pill. Take something you've always wanted. Sit back and chill..

Sit back, watch the ashes, their crumbling down.
Keep your head in the sky. Keep your feet on the ground.
Keep your buzz going. Don't ever come down.
Keep your face smiling and don't ever frown.
Keep the toxins flowing. Keep your head held high.
Keep your thoughts clear. Stop wondering why.
Keep your hopes up. Drink that whiskey and rye.
Keep moving yourself forward. Live life 'til you die.

Sit back, watch the ashes. They fall to the ground.
Take a listen to the birds, its a beautiful sound.
Take a minute, sit back, watch the world go around.
Take a look at the sky, so vast and profound.
Take a drag of your cigarette, and let yourself go.
Take notice of your freedom, and let the wind blow.
Take off your winter coat, go with the flow.
Take off your mask, let your true colors show.

Sit back, watch the ashes as they land on the earth.
Feel the rediscovery, and feel the rebirth.
Feel the wind on your fingertips, for what it is worth.
Feel the world, what it is, it's incredible girth.
Feel yourself drift away, feel the grass on your toes.
Feel the sun on your face, feel the wind as it blows.
Feel the love in this world, as it blooms, as it grows.
Feel the light on your soul, see the beauty it shows.

Sit back, watch the ashes, their coming, their due
Realize, though, that it's beautiful too.
Redo all of the things, that you love to do.
Remember there's people that truly love you.
Replay all of the memories that make you smile.
Revisit your best friends, and chill for a while.
Resign from your deviance, cunning, and guile.
Relax in recumbence, sit back, reconcile.

The ashes will soon, cover all of this land.
Theres nothing to stop it, no curing command.
Theres someone who loves you, so go hold their hand.
Theres a shortage of love in this world of demand.
Theres only one thought that comes into my mind.
Theres nothing new out there, theres nothing to find.
Theres everything I need, right here, am I blind?
Theres people who love me, people of my kind.

So the world can go ahead and crash down around me, I'll just look Away. I'll just take a look at the things I love.  I'll just take notice of the beautiful Day.
I'll just take another shot, I'll just sit in the beautiful green Grass. I'll just look up at the sky and let the ending pass.
I'll just be sitting with the people I love, and we'll be letting our true colors Show. We'll be feeling the grass on our toes, and letting the beautiful wind Blow.
Get ready to watch the rest of the world fall to pieces. To watch the ashes fall. Prepare for the Show.  But Don't worry...Just Sit back, relax, and let the last of that beautiful wind Blow.

____

Fall with me. Drop with me. Drop like the rain descending from the pregnant clouds overhead.  Fall like an avalanche, free and uncontrollable. Fall like the waterfall, endlessly powerful.  Fall with the world, but not in disgrace, we're falling like leaves into a beautiful place.  We're falling into eternity… discomforting but true. So enjoy the descent, it's the least you could do, for out of this fall comes a beautiful view...

Fall with the leaves. Fall peaceful and slow
Forget everything that you don't need to know
Form truces with enemies, befriend every foe
For now is the time to let everything go
Forbidden are thoughts of a peaceful demise
Forsaken, the image of peace in disguise
Forgive all the subtle and meaningless lies
Forego a renewal, re-open you're eyes

Fall with the Rain drops, now finally freed
This is the beginning of the end indeed
This peaceful decline may be just what we need
This fall from our old withered branches of greed
This pressure discharged… our old ways replaced
This wind now uplifting, this beauty embraced
This Government Tangle, this Empire, erased
This Is the End of the struggles we've faced

Fall with the Waterfall, Establish your voice
Pro-life… Pro-love… Pro-strength… Pro-choice
Protest your opinions, don't let them devoice
Progress now possible, so revel, rejoice
Provide the necessities, laughter and love
Produce something new, something unheard of
Proclaim your new freedom, and wake with the dove
Promise to fall with the rain from above.

Fall with the Avalanche, plush and severe
Don't let the ending take hold of your fear
Don't forget, there's people that still love you here
Don't let these people, your friends, disappear
Don't be afraid now…  The grass is still green
Don't take your eyes off the beautiful scene
Don't let your colors be shaded unclean
Don't let the distance grow vast in between

Fall with the ashes that cover this earth
Be Born Once Again, re-discover rebirth
Believe in true beauty, for what it is worth
Beware of this world, its incredible girth
Below you are roots from which you can grow
Beyond the Horizon is the end as we know
Belong To A Bigger Picture, go with the flow
Become something less…  Sit back… Watch the show.

Fall with the ashes, but not in disgrace. Finally we can escape from this place. The government gone, the Empires erased.  We can Fall with the raindrops, with beauty embraced.
Take off your masks, let your true colors Show. Let the sun shine bright, let the moonlight glow.  Revisit your best friends, Let yourselves go.
and let the very last of that beautiful wind blow…

Ashes to ashes, land of the lost, we pray you find rest. Dust to Dust, drifting through time and space. What will your legacy be, will you die with no story passed on to tell? Will you be a legend, will you be respected? Ashes to Ashes we will all eventually fall, but how hard will that fall be? Was it worth it, are you proud of yourself? Dust to Dust, we become, leaving behind people and memories we once loved. Will you be a hero or a villain, the choice is yours, life is a journey, and the after life is a mystery. Cherish it, for you only live once!

Nothing of them remained
We came and found ashes
We found nothing but ruins and ashes
No flesh no hair or lashes
No fires, flames or matches
What was there
We are in oblivion
What is there
But ruins and ashes
Anything/fire/flame/ash/ dust/gone
The place was deserted and empty
Except for our presence
Until
We were present no longer
The white sky turned grey
The green fields turned black
The quiet chats turned to screams
The lively souls were drained of existence
We were in the middle of it all
We were being perished
We were burning
The flames swallowed us whole
The flames ate down everything
The fires were put down
Anything/fire/flame/ash/ dust/gone
Nothing of us remained
They came and found ashes
They found nothing but ruins and ashes
No flesh no hair no lashes
No fires no lighters no matches
What was there
They are in oblivion
What is there
But ruins and ashes
What will there be but ruins and ashes
"Everything will burn and catch fire"
That's all ashes desire
Everything/fire/flame/ash/dust/gone
It's nothing but a cycle, the cycle is everything.

Every inch is
dressed in gray
ashes of our yesterday
Scattered all throughout the air
I let them go without much care
since every time I breathe
Through what remains
I ask you not to leave
For me
while you slip
from my hands.
My life line does not understand
Why this array of
Burnt remains is almost through
While I cry out your name
It all tends to be the same
Please don't leave me
Here alone
I'm afraid too
I grieve for you
As all your
Ashes, ashes
Fall...
May change

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Sugar is sweet,
But not as sweet as you.

Ring around the rosy,
Pocket full of posies,
Ashes, ashes,
We all fall down.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
You took my heart,
And you tore it in two.

Ring around the rosy,
Pocket full of posies,
Ashes, ashes,
We all fall down.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
My words may create,
But I can't erase you.

Ring around the rosie,
Pocket full of posies,
Ashes, ashes,
We all fall down.

Ashes, ashes.
We all fall down.

Ashes, ashes,

We
All
Fall
Down.

they tell me I'm made of dust
as though a slight gust
could ******* apart
As if the beating wasn't just my heart
but a maze of particles
infusing every article
dead and blown away

they tell me ill return to ashes
like i was made of ashes in the first place
like instead of thoughts it was just space
that your hand on my heart wasn't what kept it apace
but just science in the ashes
in the dust
feeling sentimental, its rainy, sue me

The toils of yesterday fade once more
Like the crests of the waves
Leave the anchor of its shore
I make the decision to accept
Then reflect
---------------------
Like the Phoenix
I rise from the ashes

My path I carve
With hands of skill
Determined focused
with an iron will
Until the day
My heart is still
-----------------------
Like the Phoenix
I rise from the ashes

The challenge of darkness
May eclipse
My thoughts
Stealing positive words
From my lips
Paralysing me to my fingertips

But again I will arise once more

Like I've done so many times before

As the crests of the wave
Leaves its anchor of the shore
----------------------------------------
Like the Phoenix
I rise from the ashes

Ashes, Ashes
what is this life?
Engulfed in a fire
of anguish and strife

we claw through this labyrinth
one brick at a time
How long till I realize
that none of its mine?

Ashes, Ashes
what have I found?
The mortal remains
of a woman who drowned

in her own hidden river
of pain and desire
Its not ours to smother;
we’ll burn in this fire

Angel of Hell, Angel of the Sun.
Angel of fear, daring you to run.

Composed of fire,
Burning furiously with desire.

Flames licking at the surface,
Always threatening to worsen.

Burning deep below,
Hiding so no one will know.

Boiling just underneath,
Ready to be unleashed.

Ashes to ashes,
We all burn down.

Embers to embers,
Burning bright and proud.

Flames to burning flames,
Never to be tamed.
Rhyme scheme :D
I'm not so great with rhymes but I thought this was pretty good!!
Take into consideration
Everything that’s come before
As you watch the end of time unfold
No amount of education
Could prepare you for the truth
These are stories no one’s ever told
Everything we’ve ever said
And everything we’ve ever done
Will be an equal weight upon our souls
With everything we’ve never said
And everything we’ve never done
We’ve fooled ourselves…we thought we had control
See the mighty fall beside
The weak and powerless
Wasting every hope we had for growing old
Such a reign of fire
Burning all our sins away
But in the end, the world will be so cold

The world is washed in grey
Differences are stripped away
We’re one in the ashes
One in the ashes
All our fighting was in vain
We are one in the ashes
And in the end we all will lose control

Take into consideration
Everything we’re fighting for
Even though the world’s become so cold
No amount of devastation
Could destroy the bitter truth
Love is something few of us have shown
Everything we’ve never said
And everything we’ve never done
Self-ingested poisons take their toll
Everything we should have said
And everything we should have done
We lost ourselves the day we lost control
See the mighty fall beside
The weak and powerless
Wasting every hope we had for growing old
Such a reign of fire
Burning all our sins away
But in the end, our hearts will be so cold

The world is washed in grey
Differences are stripped away
We’re one in the ashes
One in the ashes
All our fighting was in vain
We are one in the ashes
And in the end we all will lose control

Take into consideration
Everything you’ve lost before
As you watch your peace of mind unfold
Not one word of explanation
Ever will disguise the truth
We’ve become the stories we once told
Everything we’ve ever said
And everything we’ve ever done
Now an equal weight upon our souls
With everything we’ve never said
And everything we’ve never done
We’ve fooled ourselves…we never had control
See the mighty fall beside
The weak and powerless
Wasting every hope we had for growing old
Such a reign of fire
Burning all our sins away
In the end, our hearts have grown so cold

The world is washed in grey
Differences are stripped away
We’re one in the ashes
One in the ashes
All our fighting was in vain
We are one in the ashes
And in the end we all will lose control
A poem that bled into a song, and came to mind once again today after so long for no apparent reason that I can find.

Leftovers from a red hot feast
My heart turns gray with ash.
As smoke clouds infect my lungs and flow into my blood stream
Soon enough I was destined for suffocation from within

Volcanoes spit ash out into the atmosphere
I inhale ash and exhale happiness
Gone with every breath goes every smile I have thought of.
Disappearing with every breath my motivation flies into the atmosphere and burns up into ash.

A crackle and a pop and a slow burning fire in the brick fireplace.
Heating homes the old fashioned way,
I am ****** into a vortex to the sky where I can fully appreciate life.
Where the sun smiles down on all of the boys and girls and makes ashes glow with embers just wishing for life once more.
But after all, all stars burn out.

A forest fire rips through northern Montana.
Smoke filling the air while ash fills the heart full of burned memories and homes
Part of what once was life turns into the most innocent of monsters.

A volcano erupts in Pompeii.
A city paved in ash I am lost.
A family buried in an unmarked tomb
that they once called home.

Writing on the walls suggests propaganda existed since time has.
A man wrapped in a lambs wool tunic and a one inch coating of ash
Lays his head in a museum.

After all,
Ashes, Ashes.
We all fall down.

Bony small fingers wrapped round the cup and lifted it to pale dry lips
she took a sip and lowered cup
Sat opposite I looked at a face that was once to me the most
beautiful face ever
Now for the first time in my life I had undoubted confirmation
that beauty does fade
And those that say 'beauty is only skin deep were right all along

I was never in love with her, I liked her, liked her a lot, but right
now I sat broken hearted
Heartbroken because to me God's magnificence has been defaced,
the Divine work of The Most Divine has been destroyed
How could this be, how can this happen
Is evil such a powerful force, powerful enough to obliterate the face
of an Angel.

Yes, I know the prettiest Rose will one day wither and die
Yes I know nothing last for ever in our world
Yes I know we will all grow old and die
Yes I know night turns to daylight
Yes I know we all return to dust

It hurt, it hurt, it hurt, for how can Aphrodite turn into Medussa
within the course of a year
To twist the dagger in me more, it seem as if all the changes were by her deliberate design and welcomed by her
How can one blessed as such decide I want to alter myself and look
the most unattractive I can be
It was as if Lucifer stood there, saying 'you see my power, anything
you consider worthy, proper, Holy or beautiful, I can *******, mess up or destroy'...

Small bony claws put down the cup after the final sip, internally I was in stunned disbelief, how cruel is evil, how can an Angel be
thus disfigured. Where is God, why allow this.

I was never in love with her, I liked her but never had any reason
to think we could be an item. But her beauty always reminded me of God's magnificence and induced praise to God anytime I saw her. Now the hurts burnt so deeply into my soul, that I don't believe in the beauty of humans anymore. I was shallow somewhat
Now I know only Inner Beauty matters and everything happens for a reason
Ashes to Ashes
Dust to Dust

Ashes to ashes
dust to dust
today's people are angry
and its for violence they lust
blood being spilled
on earths very crust
with a system that's deafened
and no longer just

Is it too late
to change how men think
I hate that we're standing
this close to the brink
I can't put the blame
on the whiskey they drink
when it's the attitudes they're taught
that really does stink

Filled up with hate
riddled with fear
for that which is different
approaching too near
and they don't see the problem
that's one thing that's clear
seen in their favorite activity
their refusal to hear

Ashes to ashes
dust to dust
badges now tarnished
as if covered with rust
weren't these the people
we were taught to trust
why must the good shake their heads
in utter disgust

Came gently sneezing at my turned-up nose
when hiding under the soft wool blanket.

Winter mornings came with promising poetry,
heartening the warm bed and inviting me,
Poetry that smelled like burned wood,
infused with the smell of grey blackish ashes,

Keeping the dress sleeves rolled up,
and the hair with very much care combed
back in a solid hair bun, like a trusty guardian,

My mother,
started every winter morning,
bended on her knees,
like in a pray
in front of winter stove,
like in a pray,
cleaning the stove,

She kept silent while cleaned the ashes,
Ashes, that warmed the house and cooked the food,
Ashes made the hot tea soothe,
Ashes made the popcorn dance and jump,
fly on the floor, and fly on the table
‘till we started popcorn fight,
popcorn flew in many mouths,
popcorn flew everywhere in the warm house.

Ashes of burned wood,
I could not understand,
its fire and heat took care of our roots,
penetrating our hearts like gold dust.

My mother’s silence every day cleaned
the winter stove from burned wood
with devotion and zest,
Getting it ready for a new day fire,
Getting it ready to cook borscht.

The Ashes of Lent Fall Upon Ukraine

“Remember, man...”

In Ukraine this season, grey ashes fall
Grey ashes of Lent that fall on everyone
Whether they will have them or not -
The still-warm ashes of our fellow man

“That thou art dust...”

In Ukraine this season, grey ashes fall
There is no line; the ashes wait instead
Among the swirling smoke to present themselves -
This tiny speck of ash was someone’s child

“And unto dust thou shalt return”

In Ukraine this season, grey ashes fall
And cover civilization as its funeral pall

~

From the cinders and ashes of exhausted flame
Came a wonderful truth that is not one to blame
For this feeling of love that brings forth its weight
Which we gladly present in the form of debate

On the darkest of night not a star above shone
We hear of the plight his decision alone
For the heart of this woman true love would reclaim
From the cinders and ashes of exhausted flame

And this knight you will see just a few steps away
Had decided to take with the band on this day
Whilst knowing full well that his Lady would fear
The thought that her armor clad knight was not near

He played till the hours, well into the morn
His heart between song and his lady were torn
But still he continued till the sun called the day
And this knight you will see just a few steps away

As he knocked on the door, crooked smile on his face
He called out her name as he stood at her place
Ignore him she did for twas easy to know
Where he had been, what place he did go

He hadn’t a clue that she waited her chore
And watched from above on the very next floor
His attempts to gain entry to this her own place
As he knocked on the door, crooked smile on his face

As she moved on the balcony, eyes gazing down
Watching his antics without making a sound
And thought to herself this was really a shame
It is his love of music that is surely to blame

Then her mind turned to songs he had written for her
As the love that she felt for him began to stir
Wonderful feelings inside her spun round
As she moved on the balcony, eyes gazing down

She decided to forgive and forget would be best
For his feelings and love he soon would profess
Through the entry she walked, quiet feet on the floor
To the base of the stairway that leads to the door

A moment to breathe, a glance at the clock
No longer she hears the sound of his knock
She would let him in, allow him some rest
She decided to forgive and forget would be best

Dejected, no answer, he turns now to leave
To lose her, this Goddess, he surely would grieve
Why had he made such a mess of this thing
By playing guitar, by wanting to sing

He knew that he loved her much more than a song
Then why did he play with his friends all night long
She warned him no longer his words she’d believe
Dejected, no answer, he turns now to leave

The door is now open and before her eyes
A sight that is not often called a surprise
I terrible dream, she thought this must be
This sight that I see right in front of me

Why would this happen, why do such a thing
Knowing he loved her as he loved to sing
Don’t do this my darling, the words that she cries
The door is now open and before her eyes

A burning guitar, burning songs on the ground
Fanning the flames of this inferno mound
Her Knight as he tells her this act is to show
He loves her much more than a song and a show

I’ll sing nevermore, not a chord will I play
To be in your arms with you I will stay
Know now this sign of my love so profound
A burning guitar, burning songs on the ground

She could not believe it as she stood there and cried
Such sadness and sorrow had built up inside
My darling this is not the course I desire
To see your creativeness go up in fire

I understand not why you’d go to such means
Never, not ever in my wildest dreams
This is not a way I would have ever implied
She could not believe it as she stood there and cried

Weep not my love, the decision was mine
It should have been done such a long ago time
For here at your side now I never shall part
And sing you the song that you’ve placed in my heart

These ashes were pages and wood and some strings
Nothing much more than material things
So therefore I say we’ve the rest of all time
Weep not my love, the decision was mine

She was his Queen and he was her Knight
With her blonde flowing hair she would pull him in tight
She sat on the ground, he fell to his knees
This moment of love they were sure to seize

Her long gown of violet, his suit of steel
Their passionate kiss, they way that they feel
This perfect love the whole world would delight
She was his Queen and he was her Knight

From the cinders and ashes of exhausted flame
Came a wonderful truth that is not one to blame
For this feeling of love that brings forth its weight
Which we gladly present in the form of debate

On the darkest of night not a star above shone
We hear of the plight his decision alone
For the heart of this woman true love would reclaim
From the cinders and ashes of exhausted flame
Ok, sorry, this is a long one. Just playing around with a slightly different style.

memories, like ashes flung
across the web of time -
are half-burnt logs where dreams still
sputter;

and I bid them all goodbye

no one knows the sorrows,
nor the joys of light unseen,
when stirring through the ashes
of yesterday's dreams

farther than an ocean spread
the eagle eye has seen,
but never can the keenest
pierce that gray and ashy sheen

the past is gone - a mirror
of our present selves, I think -
the things we see there
gratify the darlings and the beasts
+
memory, like ashes flung
across the net of time -
are proof that life one time
was lived:
that fevered dream of mine

now dead

below the surface,
where the dust is soft and blows
in the gentle gentle breeze;
below the hardened crust of teardrops
raining down down
through the trees:

there the shifting ashes lie;
the happiness of dreams,
the lifting light of love's delight,
the lightning at the seams

and there I roam,
a lost forlorn,
a citizen of dreams
that long ago have burnt to ash
and scattered all my things
+
memory, like ashes flung,
across this web of mine,
with shadows in the corner comes
and wakes the dragon Time

each forward step
              a drop of fuel
                 each hour
a log of pine

and always always flickering
that fire we all call mine

till memories, like ashes flung,
across the wrinkled line,
fill up the span my steps have spun
and dry the noonday sun

+

and I stirred the fire to flame again
and thought of her no more
cold ashes are sad; but none would be a tragedy

Fire is the sun and the moon
These dusty fields and broken streets I walk through
Fire is everyday and every word
And I am ashes
Ashes
Spread amongst the purslain
And the charging ocean winds
The vestigial glint of hope
I am ashes
Now
A ceremony
As ashes fall into place
I have to die
To be reborn

Oh
How have I died?
Only in your eyes and in your arms
I was burning with the rage of bullets
And pin-struck amorous lighting
A thousand needles
Each speaking the name of the flame
And stubbornly stabbing
My mind ablaze in torrid heat
How have I died?

Only in whatever way I had to

I am ashes
Falling slowly from the life I used to have
When all was fire
And I was cinder
I am ashes
Formulating in unexplained definitions
Where love is death and birth
The let of knowing holding on
And no wind could tarry me assunder

I am ashes
From a life before
A living heartbeat
And belief
I am ashes
Falling into place
Every little part of me
Who I was
And who I'll be
Well ******

The laments of little men, little hearts
Ashes to ashes, lurk beneath
Fear of breathing supersedes
The joy of longevity
The madhouse is filled with them
With these little men
With endless dreaming
With fumes of kerosene
And unpleasant breathing mouths
And uncouth, torn linen clothes
In dreams of dying with hopeless love
With promises of dreary kisses
The laments of little men, little hearts
Dust to dust, float above

I think that maybe
I might start smoking.

It will **** you
they'll say

Lips locked with death.
I draw in the smoke
dancing through black
desperate lungs.

A disgusting habit
they'll tell me.

But they have it all wrong.
It's not a habit.
It's a conscious decision.
A slow suicide.

It will **** you
they will tell me.

The flicking of ashes to the ground.
rubbing out of dying
glowing embers.

That's the point
I'll reply.
Disclaimer: I am not a smoker nor am I suicidal. This is a perspective poem of the subconscious desire to die behind the conscious decision to start smoking.
