Where I'll Go

City lights will always let me sleep
I'm sung to dreams by passing traffic and drunken geniuses
Spilling their wonders upon themselves into a mess of equations and formulas
The roaring of a plane every few seconds comforts me
Knowing that someday, maybe I'll be in that plane
Off to worlds never to be seen by the last two generations
I am future and future surrounds me in the busy streets of this beach city

Town darkness will never let me sleep
I am kept awake by crickets and bubbling creeks
Slipping their ice drops down into the bed of suicide and reflection
Stars shine by the million outside my empty sill, comforts me still
Because I know that someday I'll be walking among the stars
Off to Heavens already seen by my ancestors Milky Walk
I am destiny and destiny surrounds me in the quiet woods of this forest town
