The shadow of a church

The old man slept on a bench
in the shadow of a church. He had
a long beard,
dirty hair,
torn clothes.
He shivered occasionally,
wheezed constantly.
The church door opened.
A man in a suit walked slowly
towards the sleeping man.
He leaned down,
spoke, hands in his pocket.
The old man gets up, silently
and wanders away
his dirty feet scraping across the ground.
