Stolen Pride

A magical spell weaved deeply into your soul
Controlling your every desire and wish
Has taken your dignity like a thief in the night
And left you alone in the midst

You sing to the shadows that cling to the walls
Of the empty caverns left there inside
That once held the lifeblood of freedom’s design
That poured into the veins of your pride

A wistful whisper of longing is heard in the night
A deep echo resounds through the skies
As you cry to the stars and the moon up above
To send down relief from your plight

Now the night finds you traveling to places unknown
To fill this emptiness from which you try to hide
While the skies rain down tears of anguish and pain
Into the hollow caverns of your stolen pride
