Soylent Not Green

.

With kindly eyes
we witness each seed
germinate and burst forth
with life and promise
and hope not to be met
by quiet tragedies
such a one of many
a belligerent sapling
stood tall and proud
against stiff winds
the result thereof
snap and rustle
crash and tumble:
future's harbinger's
premature demise.
