Snow-day

I know that you’re just down the road
And that you love me,
But the distance seems like miles.
The wind breathes hopeless breaths,
And I fear your love.

I could walk to you as I am now.
Wearing nothing but a t-shirt
And my pops old slippers,
I could walk to you.

The wind would tear my skin,
And each snowflake would
Bruise the delicate exposed flesh.

But if you would say you love me
I would walk the miles to your door
To kiss those lips of stone
And encase myself within your jilted heart.
Warm blood would cover my icy skin
And as you kiss me, I would fall apart.

But if you would say you love me
I would walk the miles to your door
As I am now.
Wearing nothing but a t-shirt
And my pops old slippers.
