“We must accept what God gives us-
heat, cold, hunger, satisfaction, light and darkness”
these words were ascribed to a wise she goat
who knew the simple wisdom of opposites.
As for Eve and Pandora, women all said
to have brought forth ill and evil from idyllic bliss,
a bliss hardly as sweet in it’s unknowing,
I applaud their flagrant, liberating curiosity.
Can anything be sweeter than the honeyed relief
of warmth after suffering chill
compassion after shouldering cruelty
the very existence of choice and contrast?
How hallowed is Pandora’s hope,
Eve’s innocence, which opened our sleepy eyes!
I too side with the wise goat Zlatah,
else how to know wisdom without ever having erred ?
