Moving On

Loss and change are spiritual twins.
Both terrestrial and insubstantial.
Sending waves of passion to stab us, as we go on
blindly, drinking freely of every memory,
until we devour our past completely.

Loss and change are outlets for our pain
if we cannot hold on to the dreams that drag us
like irresistible magnets, we must change
where we look, or how we pursue our dreams.
Nothing is lost until we accept that loss, and change ourselves.

Loss and change share so many commonalities,
but there is a plethora of differences also.
The key is balancing the bittersweet and poignant,
while pursuing our dreams down new paths
of connection, happiness, and growth.

To childishly paint on the door of our past,
as if we can stave off loss by dwelling on what we had.
Or to kick that door in with savage passion,
and hurtle ourselves through, into a new world,
where the myriad pleasures of life are once again revealed to us.

This is the most relevant difference.
But finding out this truth,
is just part of moving on.
Loss and change is the choice.
Let go, is the spiritual twin of begin again.

New roads, and new beginnings. Kick that door right off the hinges.
