There is a place in a girl's heart,
which, like a jewelry box,
holds her most treasured possessions.
The small memories that support, create, define her.
The sound of her parents' laughter over an early breakfast;
The quiet realization that today will be a good day;
That hot pancakes await her.
The one boy who takes her breath away;
His dark hair, its thickness between her fingers;
The feel of his lips upon hers as he slips her dignity from within;
The mold of his body against her own as she melts into him.
"You're God, and I'm the world."
The sweet laughter of her best friend,
as she sneaks out of the kitchen door,
and hops into the open Jeep;
The long, exciting night stretching before her
to the uncharted horizon.
Family, Friends, Lovers-
Each one a pearl, tucked away deep
inside a girl's soul.
