Lessons

by A Thomas Hawkins

The people that come into our lives
do so for a reason
It may only be for a day or a month
or may just be for a season

But when two paths cross, no matter how brief
There's a lesson somewhere to be learned
It may be just that we're on the wrong path
and there's a corner that needs to be turned

It may be to teach us that we can still fly
and soar in the heavens above
or it may be a brief and torrid affair
to show us that we can still love

And maybe my words are speaking to you
and I'm part of some message you need
To show you the signs that surround you
so between the lines you can read.

Where did this one come from? Today... i think? It really is amazing the way you are able to express things so simply and effortlessly without ever forcing the words.

For the longest time I have believed that people come into our lives for a reason, its only the other day I thought of expanding on it in a poem. This is what came out.

Yeah and the weird thing is you usually never know and sometimes you can be influenced by peple you've never met. My life went off on a tangent I never would have expected because the friend of a friend sent him a book that he loaned to me and it turned my world upside down.

A free flowing verse raising the beautiful point that people walk in and out of our lives not without reason. If only we could all learn from each such .......
