In memory

Even in this bitter cold
And aching of these spaces
That you've left
I wish for you only this:

That the love you someday find be as striking,
That the warmth and light of it
Be so desperately blinding
As to creep into your darkness
And save you from your tragedies
The way I never could.

I wish for you
Such fulfillment and satisfaction
In your experience
That not an ounce of my
Endless faith in you
Be wasted.

I wish for you
Many more midnights
Of glow worms and shadows and falling
And that they ALL end
Better than this.

And I wish that you not be haunted by me, the way I will remain haunted by you and the perfect whispers you left in place of my vitality.
