How I Hate Thee
Pride,
Oh pride, how I hate thee!
You nagging presence and your single eye -
The evil eye that gives the evil look.
Everyone needs space, Mr. Pride;
A space that coincidentally equals
The width, length and height that you occupy;
Yet in conversations you cannot miss,
In good men's hearts,
You are present in absentia.
In the society, you are rooted
Evergreen like the Lebanon cedar.
Do you have to be an eternal gate-crusher,
Or the spoiler when heaven is beckoning?
Pride, won't you understand for a minute,
Go for a vacation in hell or may be
Take a bathroom break - for good?
Won't you please have a few drinks
Then take your car for a walk.?
Pride, oh how I hate thee!
