Here and Now

What happened to us?
What happened to that period of time when the phrase
"I love you"
wasn't just thrown around?
When a man actually would make an attempt,
an attempt to court the woman he was attracted to?

Way back when, men were taught to honor their women.
Here and now, chivalry is dead.

The poets and idealists in this day and age are
put down,
drowned out,
and given Adderal.
What happened to the time when the storytellers were the ones
who were respected?
When books were revered as an important form of art?

Way back when, children were encouraged to think and be creative.
Here and now, thinking is dead.
