false dawn

come inside this magnified circumstance
cover your eyes from the glare of false evidence
for the promise is now empty
filled it was with expectations
but gathered the dust of vacant fulfilment
they now wait for someone else's brush

peeled this skin of hopeless endeavor
and with endless repetition
replaced every turned stone
but the bargains still fail
now drowning in the lake of abandon
that resting place for burnt tries

write a song
for this brightest of false dawns
it's a sight for the eyes, failing
futility ever crawls closer
so lend a hand and quicken
this downfall, this spiral descent
end this still-born journey

wrote this some years back. i was unemployed then and getting frustrated with myself. this is the result.
