Defenses

So tired, are the corners of your lips.
Part them beneath my fingertips.
Taste this moment. We're alone.
My heart is paper thin,
I'm falling fast and drowning in
the ocean mist that holds us.
This thickened air is everywhere
but in my lungs tonight.
I could die. I could die.

The heat between us burns me down
and I'm too far gone to turn around.
I feel it in my bones. I feel it in my eyes.
Your chest is beating just like mine.
We can't deny the distance between our lips,
our bodies, our minds.
The electricity is at its peak
so kiss me. We're alone.

I refuse to believe that you're hers
because the stars have fallen for us.
