Our bodies are drizzled
in static electricity,
stricken by a devastating
numbness
that tingles in our fingertips.
You place your hand,
soft as satin in the gaps
that there are for you,
our breath on each other's mouths,
the rain falling out the obsidian sky
the sole noises.
Your skin is warm,
no goosebumps tonight.
I hear your heartbeat
against my chest.
Under the covers
we are so close,
just awaiting a touch,
to have a taste, get lost
in a crimson-coloured paradise.
Quiero.
My lips brush gently against yours
like a painter starting his magnum opus
on a new canvas.
Necesito.
Your hand clutches mine tighter,
the snowballing sensation inside us
almost hits seventh gear.
Deseo.
You whisper serenely,
the words will be forever
etched on my mind.
Beso.
It's tender, it's slow,
we enter a hypnotic state
and slink nearer.
Amo.
This is it now,
I'm not letting you go,
please can I just lay here and hold you?
Explanation: A poem written in my own time. The title translates as 'To Kiss and To Love', with the other Spanish phrases translating as 'I want', 'I need', 'I desire', 'I kiss' and 'I love'. I have wanted to include some Spanish in my poetry for some time, and it may appear again in the future.
