Abandoned

I wonder if you think of me
Like I try to remember you
I used to hold you in high esteem
Now I find my memories untrue

I think it was denial
That made me believe in you.
They say you should walk a mile
In the other's shoes

But to walk in your shoes
Would be a travesty
I could never do the things you did or do
Just to be able to see you through me

I would never cheat or lie
I would never be swayed away
To let my wife and child die
As you did one long ago day

I tried to believe in you
For you were a great fantasy
But like all fantasies, you were never true
