A rhyming poem
A solid blackness has filled your eyes
Turning you into something that I despise
You gave up our dreams built of sand
And exchanged them for materials much more grand
Greed and selfishness are your ways now
It causes me more pain than the soul should allow
A deceitful blanket covers your face
You say there is someone better to take my place
I know I shouldn’t sit and pray for rain
But love just leaves an unforgettable stain
I shouldn’t wish to drown in the sea
I shouldn’t have to live knowing someone has taken you from me
You cannot just expect me to keep breathing
Especially when everything I cherish is slowly leaving
All I wanted was to hold you into the night
Now I just want to drift into the light
