I am in love
Infatuated with a boy I met this summer
He is a stranger
The only spoken words are of those of my dreams
But I think he sees
Me
Take the long way to the lake just to pass by
His cabin
Praying that he's sunbathing outside
Or drinking a soda
That maybe today, he'll offer me a sip
But alas, he was always only close by
Watching me from afar
As if to protect me
To help me
As if to show, grow, hold, bet me
Today, a week before everyone packs up for the summer
And starts their long journeys home
Back to business and just the house to roam
I was laying out in my
Itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini
That I wore for not quite the first time that day
When I saw my unrequited love
Stare at me
The escape away
My heart soared
So I followed him to the sandy shore
Behind and old ratty fence with a hole
I gazed through and watched him undress
Down the the very skin
Bone
And soul
But instead of jumping in
He gazed at nothing it seemed
Nothing but the dull lake and willow trees
But seeing as he was older, and wiser
I was but 15 years old
I begged for God to let me see what he sees
And He did
I saw the deepest, coolest, bluest lake
The willows weeping in the shade
I saw wet wood underneath my feet
I saw his back, covered in Angel Wings
My eyes teared up as the I saw the world he did
And I think he heard me sniffle
He didn't care
He just chuckled at me
Offered me a hand
And in greatest pleasure
We jumped
From the dock
Into His world
A world never to be seen again
Except for those of a Guardian Angel
