It is never the right time
always the wrong move
never the right time
what do I have to prove?
to me
to you
to them out there

I wear this man like an overcoat,
tattered and stained
and the man wears on me
as if she?
(a Freudian slip)
could trip me up
and he does frequently.

you see or you might
that in the day there is light,
but at night when the scarecrows play
no day
no light
no maybe or might
and
it's always the wrong time
never the right.
