A
My heart
Is a happy drunk
A little too open
A little too optimistic
It's over in the corner of the bar
Playing poker
Screaming at the top of it's lungs
I'M ALL IN
When it's never
To this day
Had a winning hand

My heart
Is a sad drunk
A little too lonely
A little too caught up in tears
It's over at the counter
Forcing the bartender to take its keys
Because it would rather not go home
Than go home alone again

My heart
Is a reckless drunk
A little too unbalanced
A little too impaired
It's over by the door
Making everyone nervous
A little too good at scaring people away
A little too far gone

Like you
A little too far gone
Turn your head
Shuffle away and pretend you don't notice
The breakdown of a heart
Too drunk on feelings
To know when to stop

Miranda sits on the veranda
A glass eye in her hand
When she looks through the lens
The horizon bends
And snaps back like a rubber band

Ships can be flipped, with a flick of her wrist
And monuments rolled 'cross the sand
Her artistic eyes
Love to be surprised
So she treats them whenever she can

Follow me down to the cherry tree
With ten thousand rose capillaries
So many sights still yet to be seen
Before the wilting of our dream

While the wind whistles a tune so sweet
Let’s dance with flowers in the summer heat
There’s plenty of time to swim in the stream
Before the wilting of our dream

I’m afraid now the hour is getting late
Soon my darling we both will awake
We can lay in the meadow of velvet green
To await the wilting of our dream

The turpentined clouds are the first to go
Melting away like wet April snow
The birds fall silent and the tulips careen
Into the wilting of our dream

Ashes an dust circling in the air
Slowly descend on your long golden hair
I stare at your face ‘till the last sunbeam
*Erases the memory of our dream

Cast your hook in me
Set it deep
Into something that resembles a heart
Rip it out
For all the world to see
It’s been empty from the start
Despise me now
Wonder how
You could have ever loved this shell?
A silver tongue
Cannot become
More than a book of spells

So here we are
Picking scars
Scratching ‘till they bleed
Sacred bonds
Sick and starved
Begging to be freed
We knew the risk
But couldn’t resist
So we rode our shooting star
It burned so bright
Before it died
Leaving who we really are

When I found Jesus
He was walking on
A king-size water bed
If you don't believe it
You're gonna go to hell
Go to hell he said
When I quit breathing
I'm gonna fly away
Far from all this pain
Replace the seasons
With the bittersweet
Dance of the mundane
I'll live forever
With a saintly smile
Stuck upon my face
And pray I never
Will fall again
Fall again from grace

You must've been a queen in another life
Cause you act like royalty
Holding out for a chivalrous knight
To pledge his loyalty
When you clap your hands, men fall in line
Quick to compete for their honour
So you never notice the devoted jester
Standing in the corner
" I don't want a prince on a white horse, I want a ****** that makes me laugh"
