I'm excited to tell you about some new features on the site. The design has been refreshed, mostly to give more breathing room and focus to your poems, as I felt it was too cluttered before, and to accommodate these new features. Also, for those of you browsing on your mobile phone or iPad, you should notice a big improvement in the layout and readability of the poems.

I've released some changes and improvements to the collections feature, in addition to adding a section on the home page for "featured collections". Collections remain a niche feature of the site, but I'm hoping with these new features that will soon change. Here is a little bit about what's new.

Happy (belated) new year!

The last year was good to Hello Poetry. Our community now bustles day-in and day-out with writers, both young and old, traditional and anarchic alike, from nearly every position on this sphere we inhabit. It is hard to imagine how much has changed since the tumbleweed days of 2009 and I'm excited and grateful for the talent and enthusiasm of the people who choose to publish their work here. Poetry is dead?? Long live poetry!

Inua Ellams Interview

Inua Ellams, also known as Phaze, is a Nigerian-born London poet whose new show Black T-Shirt Collection is currently on at the National Theatre.

I met him for at the Espresso bar the day after his first performance. He declines my offer of coffee and opts for some cashew nuts instead. He’s got a calming presence, looking quietly comfortable in a grey jumper and speaking with a measured voice, with a slight Nigerian accent.
