I graduated from Georgia State University in 1975. I graduated with a BA Degree in Sociology
I joined the U.S. Army Paratroopers after graduating.
I got interested in songwriting. I have over 189 recordings, on both major and independent labels. I was voted Songwriter of the Year on three different occasions in Atlanta, Georgia.
Also, I have been fortunate to have over a hundred poems published in various publications.
There was a fella named Hambone
His life could be labelled a sad song
His brain was not witty
And his faith was quite shitty
His father wasted his ram bone
I used to run from girls
Their mystery beyond me
But years would change my feeling
And now when I look close
I love their tight butts so
Each part is so appealing
They add a new dimension
And they give new spice to life
In curves that swing with beauty
I can't accept the past
It's just too yesterday
I like new avenues
Cause it's a better way
It's just a time that's through
All wrapped in clouds of mist
And though it winds through hell again
It's one I can't resist
Tomorrow's still a hill to climb
My new loves fade and die
They're so much like the seasons
Just hello and goodbye
But I can still remember one
Through yesterday's old mist
The love that time cannot erase
The sweetest on the list.....
I remember you so many hearts ago
I can't give up the dream we used to know
Other hearts that I have touched were easy come and go
But I remember you so many hearts ago
I loved it when your lips were mine
Your shadow on my wall
When I pulled you close to me
I know we had it all
I never can forget you
I tried in every way
I find that each tomorrow
Begins with yesterday
I remember you so many hearts ago
I can't give up the dream we used to know
Other hearts that I have touched were easy come and go
Oh, I remember you so many hearts ago

Her gentle love would guide me
At the time I first appeared
From that big slap on my bottom
Through a lot of growing years
She could look pretty tall
With that hickory switch in hand
Her love helped me grow into a man
Later at a football game
A young beauty cheered our team
When she offered me a ride I said
"Don't pinch me--let me dream"
From the first time that I kissed her
My heart was in her hands
Her love helped me grow into a man
While the road from boy to man can be fantastic...
Some angels have to work a little magic
She was twenty inches long
When her mother cried in pain
The doctor smacked our baby girl
And, ohhhh, she raised some cain
But she got a whole lot quieter
When I held her little hand
Her love helped me grow into a man
A man grows some each season
Till he's all that he can be
From a mother's care, through a love affair
To the last but not the least
They all were sent from heaven
And it worked out like He planned
Their love helped me grow into a man

I said I do not have a lot
Invested at the bank
And my old car's a clunker
That sometimes will not crank
My job...It just ain't paying much
But love is more than money
She said your tale's a touching one
But who're you calling honey
I'm on our way to the Milky Way
Far from a memory
There's nothing in my yesterday
As good as what I see
This woman's got it all for me
Out skin feels like one
Flying through eternity
I hope we're never done
This new angel's in my arms
Has set my spirit free
I finally found a love so warm
I forgot her memory
There's all I could desire
The imagination's sweet
We're fulfilling every dream
In our romantic feat
Tonight we'll look for Venus
Where there's two cloudy moons
Make love on misty satellites
Happy as two loons
Speed around the cosmos
In a perfect flight so rare
So close to you I know
Your loving lifts me there
We'll pass the great big dipper
I'll drink a toast to you
The constellations will fly by
Till Terra Firma's due
My feet will stand upon our world
My mind still high in space
I've never gone so far with love
Than here in your embrace
Sometimes
We are like an army of ants
Marching forward doing God's bidding
Stepping on faces
Resolute and yearning to succeed
Though multitudes of us
Will fall by the way
But barely slowing the many
Relentlessy persevering
To fulfill the Master Plan
And nothing will stop us
Nay!! Nothing!!!!
Er-r-r-r by the way
Oh Creator.....
Where we going?
god is here
god is there
in the trees
in the air
in the oceans
in the dew
in the mirror
howdy do
all this time
tis plain to see
shucks pilgrims
god is me
I came upon a crossroad
I had to figure out
If I should take the road with you
Or take the one without
I came up a crossroad
I chose to let you go
Not because I didn't care
Because I love you so
You see I thought that we could find
A better road alone
We were born in different worlds
Too different to be one
I came upon a crossroad
And did what I had to do
But the hardest thing I ever did....
Was turn away from you
I TORE UP YOUR SMILE
IN THE FRAME BY THE BED
TORE UP THE LOVE LETTERS
THAT I READ AND RE-READ
JOINED THE FUN AT A BAR
WHERE THEY POUR A GOOD BLEND
BUT YOUR SWEET MEMORY
JUST TORE ME UP AGAIN
CHORUS
I LAY WIDE AWAKE
COUNTING TEN THOUSAND SHEEP
CUZ IF I CLOSED MY EYES
YOU'D WALK IN MY SLEEP
I POUR DANIELS AND DICKEL
BUT MY SOLDIERS CAN'T WIN
YOUR SWEET MEMORY
JUST TEARS ME UP AGAIN
MY PSYCHIATRIST TOLD ME
SON, WHEN YOU'RE ALL THIS BENT
CALL UP AN OLD GIRLFRIEND
WITH A HEAVENLY SCENT
WELL, HER LIPS DID HER DAMNDEST
TO HELP AN OLD FRIEND
BUT YOUR SWEET MEMORY
JUST TORE ME UP AGAIN
CHORUS
Bridge: I emptied your closet
But you still made your mark
Cause your ghost won't be leaving
Till you tear out my heart.....
CHORUS
it's funny
feeling lonesome
here beside you
on this bed
where we've loved
so many times
it's hard
to understand
has love
played out its hand...
Farewell is written softly
in your eyes
remember the night
we shared our first
warm kisses
I thought I heard
forever in your sighs
all this time
by your side
I didn't notice
when it died.....
Farewell is written softly
in your eyes
while I told
my friends that you
were meant for me.....
I was less
than you thought
obviously
and it breaks my heart
to see you start
to search
each stranger's smile.....
Farewell is written softly
in your eyes
but that's just you—
I know you hate
to hurt me
you'd rather tell
another gentle lie
you think
it's still your secret
oh, Baby,
you can't keep it.....
Farewell is written softly
in your eyes
it's gonna be so hard
to hide this broken smile
Farewell is written softly
in your eyes.....

Imagine what
No human mind can gauge
Count the countless years
Milleniums and miles
We had to cross
To meet
Imagine here
This fateful rendezvous
Ordained before the stars
Before old Sol
Above us there
Was christened blue
Imagine now
To culminate a love
That came so far
And finally
The merging here
Finally....

There once was a candidate Ryan
The right wing see in him their lion
This nemesis to our healthcare
Paul only fights for good wealthcare
He voted with Bush to disaster
The economy never fell faster
Wee is his knowledge of foreign affairs
If he gets the job we'll need daily prayers
A bad Catholic some blogs call him
Some hope pestilences befall him
Many think he's no wiser than Palin
That could cause Mitt Romney's failing
He'll hurt poor folks; he'll hurt the middle
We'll starve as old Mitt plays the fiddle
So it would be better to vote not at all
Than choose young Attila, this candidate Paul
The clearly good
The obviously pure
The valued things
Deserving to endure
Avail themselves
With crystal clarity
To those who think
With love and charity

Some women hook you with a wee bikini
Still they're the better gender of the breed
They don't start a war in far off places
They're gentle in their souls and in their deeds
They always make their men feel more special
And though they spend some money at the mall
When you feel her wrap her arms around you
You know you're the one who's got it all
WOMAN ARE THE GREATEST PEOPLE GOING
THEIR HEART UPON THEIR IS ALWAYS SHOWING
SHE'LL GIVE YOU HER LAST CRUMB
MY MOTHER...SHE WAS ONE!
WOMEN ARE THE GREATEST PEOPLE GOING
One can make my heart beat like a hammer
And leave my soul more peace than I have known
There'll be no World War III if you heed her
She's got a lot of wisdom in her bones
WOMEN ARE THE GREATEST PEOPLE GOING
THEIR HEART UPON THEIR SLEEVE IS ALWAYS SHOWING
SHE'LL GIVE YOU HER LAST CRUMB
MY MOTHER...SHE WAS ONE
WOMEN ARE THE GREATEST PEOPLE GOING
Bridge:
Good mommas train their boys to grow up nice
We'd all be kinder people if we took her advice
CHORUS
He decides which way the wind will blow
'Provides the fields that yield the grains we grow
He created everything I see
He's the one who lives inside of me
HE'S THE LIFEFORCE BEATING IN MY HEART
WHEN I GET OFF COURSE, HE' S MY COMPASS IN THE DARK
HE'S THE BEAUTY IN A FLOWER
A STORM CLOUD'S AWESOME POWER
HE'S THE LIFEFORCE BEATING IN MY HEART
He was there when the sun and stars were hung
He knows each prayer, the need it started from
Yet all He asks is the faith of a mustard seed
He blesses us with more blessings than we need
CHORUS
Bridge: He's right there to catch me at the end of my rope
If I'm standing in the ashes, he'll fill me with new hope

I revelled in pleasures
That you wrapped around me
And something so good
Should not ever end
I basked in sensations
From rhythmic movements
That cut off my breaths
I loved every second
Of tender sweet lips
Embarking on journeys
With chill bumps along
Each trail you would wind
It always amazed me
How feelings erupted
And left me exhausted
Still begging for more
I thought since I had you
No gold ring was needed
Oh I meant to buy one
To keep you all mine
But time winded on
And I never ventured
To some jewelry store
As I failed to see
That ring that you wanted
Could be so important
In my vanity
So you lost your faith
To my negligence
Till your empty pillow
And your vacant closet
Attest to the blindness
I had for your feelings
Now I pay the price
For thoughtless assumptions
In solitare nights
Of longing for you

one feels the answer
should be here
where peace of mind prevails
and not on
neon cluttered streets
and other aimless trails

I saw you feed the sparrows
Believing it, was hard
They ate seeds from your open palm
Right in your own front yard
Your reputation was a gruff
To humans in your realm
But then you fed my feathered friends
As gently as a lamb
I realize I liked you there
The rumors were too narrow
I'm sure God watched you there with love
Feeding hungry sparrows
